Sentinel-5P (2023)

Post #7by DaveBowman2001 » 31.01.2023, 04:14

Untitled.jpg
Sentinel-5 Precursor is a European Earth observations satellite launched in 2017 that is dedicated to monitoring air pollution. Its capabilities closes the gap in continuity of observations between Envisat and the future Sentinel-5/MetOp-SG fleet. It is still in active operation as of 2023

This serves as an update to gironde's Sentinel-5p addon here, which restored its three solar arrays that were missing in the older model

OneWeb Satellite Constellation

A OneWeb satellite in orbit

OneWeb is a UK-based satellite constellation that provides high-speed internet services across the globe, similar to Starlink. As of 2023-Jan-11, there are a total of 504 satellites launched in 16 flights since 2019, with only two were deorbited. Around 600-900 satellites were planned to complete the first-generation fleet by 2023

This addon adds a low-poly CMOD model depicting a OneWeb satellite in its deployed configuration. All 16 SSC files are originally made by gironde

Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster

Post #11by DaveBowman2001 » 05.02.2023, 12:42

Untitled.jpg
Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster is an electric sports car that served as the dummy payload for the maiden test flight of the Falcon Heavy rocket on February 6, 2018. It is the first production car launched into space, and it is currently in a Mars-crossing orbit around the Sun. A mannequin in a spacesuit, named Starman, occupies the driver's seat.

This addon modifies the existing model from the original addon by Askaniy. I originally intended to make the car and the rocket stage as separate objects attached together. but problems on introducing rotation to both of them led me to scratch that decision. Also, the XYZV trajectory used only covers the final escape orbit of the spacecraft for one day to simulate when the mission depleted its batteries on February 7th....see update below

Restored back Art Blos's XYZV trajectory that originally ran until 2090 while simultaneously making its name disappear by February 8, 2018. Thanks pedro_jg for the idea!

First, thanks to DaveBowmann2001 for the Oneweb mesh. Would it be possible to make us mesh of the different cubesat: 0.25U, 1U, 2U, 3U, 4U, ...? :hi:

here, 71th Starlink launch, 26-01-2023 and 11 & 12th SpaceBee launch 02-05-2022 & 03-01-2023

It is possible, though might take time depending on the level of priority in lieu of the status of my current in-development projects

Perseverance rover. Made this today in a few hours. Model is from here. I'm not entirely sure the texturing is 100% correct, but as far as I can tell it looks the same as the original model. No detailed Mars surface textures included, at least not yet.
https://celestia.space/forum/viewtopic.php?p=152787#p152787

Here is also a nice model from Ingenuity https://mars.nasa.gov/resources/25043/mars-ingenuity-helicopter-3d-model/

Having this 3D model, it would be nice to have a representation of the mission with the rover and ingenuity moving on the surface of Mars. On this page there is a good reference of the movements of each of the vehicles so far. It could serve as a base.

The only way to make such motion on rovers in Celestia are to plot insanely accurate XYZV or XYZ trajectories onto the surface corresponding to the elevations of a simulated 3D terrain (if present). The only addon devs I know of that accomplished a similar task were linuxman
(ISS-2009, 2001: A Space Odyssey, N1), rthorvald (Buran?), Sirius_Alpha (Tiangong), toutatis (Galileo Probe, my version was only an extension of his work) and whoever made the original trajectories to Huygens (either Jack Higgins or BrianJ).

Understandably that takes a significant amount of time to pull off, let alone do individual "animations" to the wheels and propellers by separating them into their own 3D models so as of now, giving rover motions are almost near impossible and unnecessary (if there's no 3D model to explore)

157 satellites
update of the list of satellites returned to Earth (2 sat.)

by my count, there are 3634 Starlink satellites in orbit at this time.

Preview of the upcoming addon "reboot" called Mir-2023. As of this writing, the latest module to be remodeled is Spektr, and every solar panel (including the angled ones on the said module) are animated. The screenshots below depict its latest accurate configuration so far until October 1995

Very nice, finally we have a realistic model of this very important object, the precursor to the ISS and all subsequent and future space wonders.
Much appreciated, can't wait to try it ....
