I also noticed that JUICE's HORIZONS trajectory is not falling on Ganymede. Perhaps by then a small mission extension is possible if JUICE still has propellant.

Another interesting thing is that you managed to keep JUICE's solar panels permanently pointed towards the Sun while the antenna is pointed towards the Earth.

Yep, that's my main reason why JUICE is coded as it is in Celestia

This feature was derived from the code used in Sirius_Alpha's Tiangong addon and my ISS addon, which in turn first pioneered by BrianJ and linuxman in their addons (Envisat and ISS-2009 respectively to be exact)

However, this will be implemented only on spacecraft designs where their solar panels can track the Sun in real life, something that most Martian orbiters and Juno cannot do

STS-2022

Post #1823by DaveBowman2001 » 20.05.2022, 08:41

The Space Shuttle program is NASA's fourth human spaceflight program that ran from 1981 to 2011. The world's first reusable operational spacecrafts has flown a total of 135 missions, of which 133 of them were successful (the other two led to the catastrophic failures that killed a total of 14 astronauts in 1986 and 2003)

WHAT'S NEW?
- Added black chines for the original skins of all the Orbiters. In the first iteration of this addon, only Columbia has this feature.
- Removed the ODS structure to accurately depict non-space station missions from 1981 to 1995
- All main Shuttle-related content for the ISS and Mir have been transferred onto this addon, so now they will only appear properly if the latest versions of Mir and ISS addons are installed
- SSC files are reorganized to allow it to remain intact even if there are shuttle-related payloads in the future are installed
- Added subfolders "Payloads" and "Satellites" to separate specific content from the orbiters themselves. Take note that these are mostly empty at the moment, and this is a placeholder for the OPTIONAL ADDONS below.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
- This serves as a BASE CONTENT PACKAGE only. Hopefully this would be the final version of this addon.
- Due to many conflicting files with its predecessor, DELETE FIRST THE OLDER VERSION FROM 2021 before installing this one.
- All previously released shuttle-related spacecraft addons before May 20, 2022 are NOT compatible with this version. Their Their subsequent updates will be released one by one in the months to come, along with future addons like Spacelab, IUS-launched satellites, etc. so stay tuned!

HOW TO NAVIGATE:
Due to the shuttle's very short duration missions, not lasting longer than 17 days, navigating to each one of them is quite complicated:

- For Version 1.6.2, install Jan Stegehuis's Spacecraft Goto script to easily jump in time on each single mission
- For Version 1.7.0, since the above script doesn't work here, refer to this Wiki page to manually jump in time on your preferred Shuttle mission

REQUIRED ADDONS:
This is for some shuttle missions that would not work properly on their own (e.g. ISS, Mir missions)

- Hubble Space Telescope, for Hubble Servicing Missions
- ISS (2023-01), for the ISS Assembly/Resupply Missions
- Mir (2022), for Shuttle-Mir missions
- SolarMax (2022), for the STS-41-C mission

OPTIONAL ADDONS:
Additional content that will populate the cargo bay of each shuttle mission. Base package will still work without these addons, however because they were hardcoded onto the Shuttle (so that they could be placed onto the payload bay), the following addons below cannot work on their own. Highly recommended to install

- Defense Support Program (2022)
- ERBS (2023)
- EURECA (2022-08)
- Galileo (2022-12)
- Hubble Servicing Missions
- INSAT-1
- Intelsat VI
- LAGEOS (2022)
- LDEF (2022)
- Magellan (2022)
- Satcom-K1 and K2
- SDS-2/Quasar
- Syncom-IV/Leasat (2022)
- Tracking & Data Relay Satellite (2022)
- Ulysses (2022)

CREDITS:
- bh = Original creator of the shuttle orbiters and SPACEHAB from linuxman's ISS-2009 addon, Mir
- FarGetaNik = Galileo, Ulysses
- gironde = CelesTrak-based orbits (previously uploaded on this thread in 2021), TDRS, Challenger-launch.cmod
- Jestr = Hubble
- Snowfall-The-Cat = LAGEOS
- toutatis = Galileo, Magellan, TDRS

----- Post updated on 2022-Jun-27 -----

UPDATE (220627):
- Added the SPARTAN, SPAS, and WSF mini-satellites that were deployed and later retrieved by the shuttles
- Added the Remote Manipulator System arm used on 90 shuttle missions, as well as the OBSS on all post-Columbia shuttle missions
- Populated the cargo bay of some missions with GAS bridges, Spacelab pallets, and MPESS mounts on positions as they appear on real life
- Fixed bugs on Shuttle missions that have incorrect dates, which result in some cases see two space shuttles visible at one time (which in real life never occurred).

Salyut 1 to 7 (2022)

Post #1826by DaveBowman2001 » 20.05.2022, 09:52

To prevent conflict with Mir (2022), here are the ZIP files for the predecessor Salyut series of space stations that also serve as updates for the Soviet Space Program addon first published in August 2021.

These, along with Mir (2022), effectively replace the old 2021 addon mentioned above.

Exploration Flight Test-1 or EFT-1 was the maiden flight of NASA's Orion spacecraft. It was launched on 2014-Dec-5, 12:05 UTC by a Delta IV Heavy rocket from which it orbited Earth twice before testing its heat shield upon reentry about four hours into flight.

This addon is released as part of Project Artemis

----- Post updated on 2022-Jun-27 -----

UPDATE (220627):
- Normal map textures introduced into EFT-1 itself, while lowering the image resolution to help optimize texture performance

Untitled.jpg
First-generation, TDRS-1 to 7 (1983-1995)
Untitled.jpg
2nd/3rd-generation, TDRS-8 to 13 (2000-2017)

The U.S. Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) is a network of American communications satellites used by NASA since 1983. The system replaced the old Manned Spaceflight Network (MSN), a series of ground stations and ships that supported all manned space missions from Mercury to Apollo

A total of 13 satellites were launched into geosynchronous orbit, of which 9 are currently active, and one (TDRS-3) remaining in storage. One satellite (TDRS-2) was destroyed during the 1986 Challenger disaster

NOTES:
- The satellites TDRS-1 to 7, i.e. the first-generation, requires the STS-2022 addon to work properly.
- Includes updates for TDRS-8 to 13, which are originally made by toutatis and gironde.
- Shuttle missions modified by this addon: STS-6, STS-26, STS-29, STS-43, STS-54, and STS-70.

Spektr-RG is a Russian-German space observatory launched in 2019-Jul-13 into a halo orbit around the Sun-Earth Lagrange-2 point. It is designed to study the universe in x-ray light through its two primary instruments, eROSITA and ART-XC. It remains in active operation as of 2022

Approximate orbital data based on Bill Gray's pseudo-TLEs here. No XYZV trajectories created due to lack of sufficient state vector data to accurately plot it for Celestia

Lunar Gateway

Post #1834by DaveBowman2001 » 16.06.2022, 05:04

Untitled2.jpg
Untitled.jpg
The approximate orbit of the Lunar Gateway

The Lunar Gateway is a planned space station to be placed in a near-rectilinear halo orbit (NRHO) around the Moon to support Artemis missions by November 2024. It is expected to host the first landings on the Moon since Apollo 17, and by the 2030s a long-duration mission in preparation for a future crewed Mars mission in the 2040s-2050s. Like the ISS before it, it will be a joint project between NASA, ESA, JAXA, and the Canadian Space Agency.

NOTES:
- Includes 8 Orion missions and 4 Dragon-XL missions. Due to uncertainty in launch dates and non-reliance from the Gateway, the Artemis 1 and Artemis 2 missions are not included
- The configuration used is based on the station's 2021 design concept here
- Since the planned timeline of the Artemis program is not yet fully set in stone, all dates used in this addon are only rough approximations and does not reflect the actual chronology of the program.
- Artemis 7 is depicted here as a 60-day Orion mission, but in reality it is an unmanned lander mission to be carried out by Draper Laboratory
- The SSC orbit used is an approximation of values given on its Wiki page. Will replace with an XYZV trajectory once its planned state vectors are published in HORIZONS
- There is no Human Landing System included. Will be released as a separate addon in the future

CREDITS:
- Endeavor35 = SpaceX Dragon-XL

This addon is released as part of Project Artemis

UPDATE (220627):
- Normal map textures introduced to the whole space station, and also reducing the image resolution to help optimize texture performance
- Fixed the texture bug from Dragon-XL
- Reorganized all files where the visiting spacecraft such as Orion and Dragon-XL would have separate folders, and to allow Dream Chaser and HTV-X (from the ISS addon) to visit this station in a future update

Diwata-1

Post #1839by DaveBowman2001 » 28.06.2022, 09:59

Untitled2.jpg
Diwata-1 is the first Filipino microsatellite ever put into space. It is a small 50-kg cubesat dedicated to Earth observations and technology demonstration. It was launched and deployed from the International Space Station on 2016-Apr-27, and it imaged the Earth continuously until it reenters the atmosphere on 2020-Mar-20.

Lessons learned from operating this satellite led to the creation of the country's STAMINA4Space program currently operated by the newly established Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) in 2019.

Mangalyaan-1, known internationally as the Mars Orbiter Mission, is India's first interplanetary mission. Launched in 2013-Nov-5 aboard a PSLV rocket, it reached the Red Planet on 2014-Sept-24, just two days after the arrival of MAVEN. Originally planned to last for only six months, it continues to send scientific data from Mars for eight years until it lost contact with Earth on 2022-Sept-27
