The orbiters themselves came from the Space Shuttle Atlantis included in linuxman's ISS, then while working on my own version of the station (which is based on this site), I decided to make orbiter skins for the other vehicles as well, including Challenger and Columbia, and the original skins for the three later orbiters

addon Space Shuttle de DaveBowman
Does the fact of having put the same name in 2nd position for each shuttle bring confusion in Celestia? What happens when we search for Endeavor for example? Celestia finds only one. I think we should have put for example:
old
"STS-49: Endeavour" "Sol / Earth"
new
"Endeavour STS-49" "Sol / Earth"
or
"STS-49: Endeavour STS-49" "Sol / Earth" (avoid modifying Center and Observer)
(same for Atlantis, Challenger, Columbia, Dicovery)
It will also be necessary to think about modifying the second name for the shuttles moored at Mir.
"STS-89: Endeavour" and "STS-89: Endeavour STS-89" are different despite Replace placed in front of

On the contrary, this will not bring confusion in Celestia at all imho. The secondary names are intentionally identical because as reusable space vehicles, they are literally the same spacecraft in different missions. Therefore, really only the STS designation is important, as you can see the orbiter's name written on the right wing on every mission anyways.gironde wrote:Does the fact of having put the same name in 2nd position for each shuttle bring confusion in Celestia? That being said, the secondary names could be changed to the no. of flight the orbiter was during the mission. I prefer the naming system used by Gunter Krebs here so that it's not too long to type
Example:
Code: Select all
"STS-49:Endeavour F1" "Sol/Earth"
As for the Shuttle-Mir missions, the Replace function was there to update the old models used from the Soviet Space Program addon remotely, without overwriting or deleting any specific files upon installing.

each will take the solution that suits him best; but for Replace, the names in the Mir addon and the Space Shuttle addon must match otherwise Celestia considers them a different object (tested). I preferred to remove the word Replace and remove the Mir addon with shuttles.

Cassini-Huygens (2021)
Cassini-Huygens was a joint NASA/ESA planetary flagship mission that studied Saturn and its moons from 2004 to 2017. It was launched on 1997-Oct-15 on a seven-year-journey that visited Venus (twice), Earth, and Jupiter en route to the ringed planet
This addon is a combination of the August 2021 version by toutatis and the 2017 version by Jestr, the latter of which restores the entire landing sequence of Huygens for Celestia 1.6.2. Therefore, all credit goes to these two great addon developers!

International Space Station (2021)
The International Space Station (ISS) is a multinational collaborative project between five space agencies around the world (NASA, Roscosmos, ESA, JAXA, CSA), which serves as a microgravity and space environment research laboratory for astrobiology, astronomy, meteorology, physics, and other fields. The ISS is suited for testing the spacecraft systems and equipment required for possible future long-duration missions to the Moon and Mars.
The model is based from the NASA model published in 2019 and includes crewed and uncrewed missions from all spacecraft since 1998 up to 2023. Take note that the dates of missions starting from 2022 are based on current available data as of 2021-Dec-24 and will definitely change as their launch dates are getting closer in time.
BEFORE INSTALLATION:
- This addon will come into conflict with the default version of the ISS (located on the extras-standard folder). Either delete that entire folder or just open the file named 0_ISS.ssc and add Replace before the name of the ISS (thanks to Sirius_Alpha for pointing it out!)
Example:
SUMMARY of MODULES:
(NOTE: The solar arrays and radiators are intentionally cannot be clicked)
- 15 US Orbital Segment
- 15 external equipment (AMS, ELCs, etc.)

- 0 Axiom Orbital Segment
SUMMARY of MISSIONS:
(NOTE: The Space Shuttle is a separate addon here)

Yes this is possible! See the examples on Project Apollo (Part 3), Soyuz 4-5, N1-L3, and the much more detailed ISS-2009 add-ons. But on my version of the ISS, I do not plan on adding EVAs. You can add it if you want thoughBetegelge wrote:a question, is there a way to put the astronauts working there on iss? it is possible?
Thanks!SpaceExplorer wrote:Good job with the ISS addon. It worked perfectly on my computer. I had no problems.

SpaceExplorer wrote:@SevenSpheres In Celestia Origin, the new JWST addon has its trajectory started on December 25th? Only if so, could you provide the addon here, please?
It's just a patch that you download and extract to extras, no install scripts or anything required. It's intended to update a Celestia Origin install, but the JWST addon will work by itself. And yes, the trajectory is up-to-date, starting on the 25th; although unfortunately the trajectory only lasts about a month.
Direct download link to the CO patch HERE.
Edit: Well, trappist is having problems since he's still unable to install an unzipper program, so I'll attach a .zip of the JWST addon here...

Starting yesterday, I'm adapting various projects from this thread for the mobile version of Celestia! The full list of mobile-compatible spacecraft addons can be found on their own dedicated category here. They are grouped according to mission type:
Thanks to SevenSpheres and Markerz for teaching me how to add the add-ons for mobile, and to SpaceExplorer for helping out submitting them on GitHub!
