Normal maps are needed for "Hubble" and "James Webb".

well, really for all models with textures...

Inaccuracy VSOP87 in Celestia make feel crazy, so I started experimenting with XYZV-trajectories for all major bodies of the Solar System and their moons for dwarf planets and etc. for the period from 1950 till 2100 year...
I can say that the first results that I have for the current moment are exellent...
Base files is solarsys.ssc and dwarf_planets.ssc made by Selestia Origin team...

OK... Created xyzv-trajectories for: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Io, Europa, Ganymede, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune... Period 1950 - 2100

Checked accuracy... In pictures below you can see spacecrafts at minimum distance from bodies during flyby...

on https://www.n2yo.com/
"FLOCK SATELLITES
Flock is a satellite constellation of CubeSats dedicated to Earth Observations using a fleet of small satellites to generate high-resolution images of Earth achieving resolutions of three to five meters. The operational constellation began deployment in 2014 and uses a combination of shorter and longer lived orbits being launched from the International Space Station and different orbital launch vehicles."

On 24-01-2021, Planet Labs launched 48 satellites, triple cubesat.
As I do not have 3D models of cubesat (1U, 2U, 3U, ...) nor specific for Flock 4S, I continue to use satgeneric.cmod
Orbital data comes from https://celestrak.com/
the FLOCK 4S-38 satellite is not operational but still in orbit.

Long Duration Exposure Facility

Post #1651by DaveBowman2001 » 01.08.2021, 06:57

NASA's Long Duration Exposure Satellite (LDEF) was a school bus-sized cylindrical facility designed to provide long-term experimental data on the outer space environment and its effects on space systems, materials, operations and selected spores' survival. It was deployed by Challenger during STS-41-C on 7 April 1984, and originally intended to be recovered a year later. However, due to the Challenger disaster in 1986, such retrieval mission had been delayed until 1990 when Columbia was sent to the satellite after 6 years in space.

For the shuttles, download first Challenger and Columbia by gironde. A new texture for Challenger is also included. To simulate STS-41-C after the deployment of LDEF, a small SSC update to SolarMax is also included

EDIT (220705): This addon's iteration of LDEF is now obsolete. See this more updated post instead

why does mars' moons move so much even though there is nothing huge orbiting mars to tug on there orbits

Remember all bodies have mass and that causes gravity and the gravitational pull of Sol and the other bodies gradually precess the orbits of moons.
Even the planets themselves are affected though also gradually.
Plus think about the gravitational resonances that happen when planets pass by 1 and another.
And remember even the orbit of our ISS precesses and it does so rather quickly by comparison.
And planets and moons aren't spherical, but lopsided and some have geological features like mountains, volcanoes, craters, canyons, etc, and those deviations from roundness (especially the bulges from rotational centrifugal force and tides) drift the orbits of objects (around them) in weird erratic paths.
And eclipses don't always happen for a reason.

what about triton though
it orbit drifted a lot even though the nearest neighboring moons are asteroids, nearest objects are kuiper belt objects smaller than triton
and the nearest planet is uranus but its very far away

This site contains many models of Soviet/Russian spacecraft ranging from rockets, space probes, and crewed spacecraft in VRML format. Might be useful for developing spacecraft addons historically owned by Roscosmos and its Soviet predecessor. Found by pedro_jg!

Yes and many bodies go through gradual changes in their paths from gravitational interactions.
Yet Neptune has a lot of moons and some are fairly large meaning fairly massive, but a lot of those combine the gravitational effects along with resonances.
Yet Triton (its largest moon) is stated to be a captured Kuiper Belt object caught in Neptune's gravitational pull.
