Orions hubble model is available off my shuttle page. TERRIER has added some neat detailing:

Thanks guys for the updated Hubble. The lettering looks nice. However, would it be possible to add the texture to the solar panels? Orion's original model had only shiny silver flat panels with no grid or photovoltiac surface and this upgraded model shares that limitation. We have lots of solar panel grid textures available in other models, so it would not be difficult, I don't think, and would make the model that much more true-to-life.

Frank...I've a modeling day on Wednesday this week...mainly for Atlantis/Mir but I will try to apply these textures to the hubble too.

I'm just in the process of looking at the model again, and I reckon I can give it a few more refinements.
For a start off, I've found a good version of the NASA font, which I can use to improve the logo.
I'll try and get some more detailing done as well, and maybe give it a texture or two.

Hopefully be done in a few days!

That's what it's there for, after all!

It's based on THIS image, which is the largest NASA logo I could find anywhere online (1008 x 863)

Don't worry, I aint forgot !

I'm not sure if the 'new' logo is on the HST ?

It just appears to have that slightly naff red text logo of NASA. Maybe it's where there's a dark splodge, just after the final 'A' ?

TERRIER, the "splodge" that's located after the last A in NASA on HST is the ESA logo. ESA made the first two pairs of the HST's Solar Arrays. If you want to improve the HST even more I can really recommend this NASA page: http://hubble.nasa.gov/technology/schematics.html
It's NASA's original blueprints of the HST. And trust me, they're really an good assist when modelling the HST. I have done it for ORBITER.

Cheers for the info Orbiterfan, I've already got the pdf file with the 4 schematics of Hubble.

Originally, I wasn't intending to do too much to the model, but now I'm beginning to think differently....
....but I don't want to take too long completing it, and I still want to keep the file size to a reasonable level.

Why yes, yes I do!

You can rip it from the top of the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) model, and although it isn't entirely accurate, it's about the same standard as the original NASA mesh logo I made. Funnily enough, I was thinking about doing a better one earlier today while looking at Ulysses, which also needs an improved version...

I intend to make a mesh version of this logo too, when I get the time - it was used for everything between the ASTP and Hubble, so it's pretty important...

Cheers, I forgot about taking the logo off ISO.

The "wormlogo" aint that bad, it's just that the version on the HST, looks to have gone slightly wrong. I think someone had a bit of trouble with the "S"

The wormlogo on HST was just damaged by various bits of space debris- it's been up there for more than 10 years! The LDEF spacecraft, which orbited from 84-90, had 4,000 visible impact sites from debris, and about 16,000 smaller impacts, so Hubble is surely going to have something similar!

I can't find any good image of the ESA logo on hubble at the moment, but i'm sure you could just stick on the ISO one, and it'd look fine.

Yep, in celestia you can make things a lot nicer than in real life.
In reality if you get up close to Hubble, it really is quite ugly, especially the NASA logo :lol:

Also in future, I might carry out the cancelled SM-4 service mission, to improve it yet further. :wink:
