Update to the JUICE add-on. Post-launch trajectory data extended up to December 2024, enabling a more accurate simulation of its first Earth-Moon flyby that has recently occurred on 19-20 August 2024. Also new specular reflections to its CMOD models

I've checked the juice.ssc file, the spelling used for the parameter above is correctly using the lowercase "c". This shouldn't introduce any problems while installing

Chang Zheng 3 (LM-3) upper stages

Post #169by DaveBowman2001 » 30.08.2024, 05:08

cover_image.jpg
The LM-3C booster of Chang'e-5 T1 (2014-065B) about to crash on the Moon

The Long March 3 rockets are a family of orbital launch vehicles from China that can send 2,600-5,500 kg-payloads into geosynchronous orbit. The rockets, in three different configurations, have flown 148/155 times since 1984, and has even sent China's first missions to the Moon.

detail_image_1.jpg
The LM-3B booster of Paksat-MM1R (2024-104B)

NOTES:
- This add-on depicts a total of 46/155 spent third stages left in orbit around the Earth. This includes 3 that have deorbited during the development of this add-on and the other one that has crashed on the Far Side of the Moon in March 2022
- Since it includes the booster that crashed on the Moon, it replaces the Chang'e 5-T1 booster add-on by EarthMoon and SpaceExplorer.
- The names of all boosters were hidden to simulate their status as derelict space debris. To search them in Celestia, either type their COSPAR IDs or just simply write "LM-3A", "LM-3B", or "LM-3C"
- Orbital parameters for all boosters were retrieved from CelesTrak and JPL HORIZONS

Juno (2024)

Post #170by SpaceExplorer » 30.08.2024, 17:39

Juno add-on update. The accuracy of its XYZV trajectory has been improved after the year 2024, including so that several distant flybys of Io are simulated. And also all orbital phases were combined into a single XYZV file, during the period 2016-2025.

Original add-on by toutatis

NOTE: Install the Galilean Satellites addon for more accurate moon flybys.

Commercial Crew Program (Sept 2024)

Post #171by DaveBowman2001 » 03.09.2024, 15:22

detail_image_1.jpg
SpaceX Crew Dragon

The Commercial Crew Program (CCP) is a post-Shuttle human spaceflight program that provides privately-operated crew transportation to and from the International Space Station for NASA. Two aerospace companies, SpaceX and Boeing, won contracts to build two such vehicles in 2014, the Crew Dragon and Starliner, respectively.

detail_image_2.jpg
Boeing Starliner

SpaceX's Crew Dragon first flew in March 2019 and has sent astronauts to the ISS regularly since May 2020. Meanwhile, Boeing's Starliner made its debut on December 2019, but it started sending astronauts to the station only as recent as June 2024

NOTES:
- This add-on requires the International Space Station add-on installed first in order to be fully functional
- Dragon 2 flights included some non-CCP missions like the Axiom flights and Inspiration4 and the cargo missions from the CRS2 contract
- Will receive regular updates as more future missions were launched

The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission is a NASA/CNES oceanography satellite dedicated in producing the world's first global survey of the Earth's oceans and how they change over time. It was launched from a Falcon 9 rocket on December 16, 2022 and will complement the data gathered by TOPEX/Poseidon and the Jason satellite fleet

Orbital data from CelesTrak. CMOD model was originally obtained from its official website by NASA

Untitled.jpg
The Jupiter Icy Moons Orbiter (JIMO) was a proposed NASA mission intended to explore Jupiter and its largest moons by the early 2020s. Planned to be the first fission-powered spacecraft fully assembled in LEO, it was cancelled due to budgetary constraints and technical complexity in 2005

IMPORTANT NOTE: Not to be confused with ESA's Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE) mission

detail_image_2.jpg
An Orel spacecraft approaching ROSS

Orel, formerly known as Federatsiya and the PTK-NP, is a Russian crewed spacecraft currently in development. It is intended to eventually replace the Soyuz in supporting space station transportation and later, lunar operations. As of September 2024, its first flight is scheduled for 2028.

detail_image_1.jpg
An Orel spacecraft orbiting the Moon

Since the exact details on the specific flight schedule of Orel is still unknown, this add-on simply adds 10 missions between 2028 and 2034. These include 2 lunar orbiters, and 8 missions to the Russian Orbital Service Station (ROSS). All dates used are fictional, and does not represent actual mission dates
