Face of the Moon Changes

I've had Celestia for a number of years and love it. The other day I was playing with it and while following Earth, I selected the Moon and locked the two together. Then I sped up time a few thousand years and noticed the face of the Moon changed after or about the year 4000. Is this correct? What affects, if any, will this have on the Earth?

darn it. lol. Why can't anything interesting happen to this poor little planet these days :( lol
