Constellation Add-on

Is there an add-on that will show the offical shape of Usra Major because Celestia shows only the asterism of the big dipper.

Celestia shows the official outlines of all of the constellations.
Select Render/ View Options/ Constellation Borders

There are no "official" asterisms.

That's not what he means - he means that you can just see the Big Dipper instead of the full constellation of Ursa Major (and if you're saying that the Big Dipper is all there is to Ursa Major, then you need a heavy star atlas dropped on your head!). Showing the borders doesn't help him.

He's expecting something that looks like this:

Like I said, there is no official definition of any of the constellation asterisms.

People have constructed more elaborate ones for use with Celestia, however.

See, for example, the thread

I think that's the wrong link?

Either way, "official" or not - there is no way that anyone could justifiably claim that the Big Dipper is anything like what Ursa Major should look like in its entirety. It's always been just a part of the constellation. It's like saying that the "sickle" is all of Leo, or that the "box with the belt" is all of Orion (missing out the arms).

If Celestia just has the Big Dipper for UMa as default, that should IMO be changed to the complete version.

Very strange.

I get two different pages depending on how I get there.

This link should work, I think:
