Surveyor Spacecraft

Post #1by BillsCelestia » 30.04.2006, 02:23

This is my first actual message on this forum! I accidentally discovered Celestia when I did a search for Spacecraft models just a couple weeks ago. This is a great program. I love it! I am employed in the manned space program at Kennedy Space Center in the shuttle program. I have been fascinated in the space program, and Astronomy since I was a kid. I got my first telescope when I was about 12 for a Christmas gift.
I have D/L'd many files but have not found a spacecraft of one of my favorite unmanned vehicles. I'm sure some of you would remember the unmanned Surveyor program that took place in the mid 1960's. To help pave the way for a manned moon landing! Surveyor 1 was the first US unmanned vehicle to land on the moon. There were seven in the series.
Does anyone have addons for this spacecraft or have one in the works? I'd appreciate it if anyone would reply if you do! Thanks! :D

Welcome to Celestia, Bill. I don't know of a Surveyor model for Celestia. I know there is one for Orbiter though. It is available at avsim.com and with permission could probably be added to Celestia. If you don't know about Orbiter yet, it is a free flight/spaceflight simulator useful for getting the "feel" of spaceflight and little exploration. Celestia is more for exploration of the Universe.
