Silbervogel

Post #1by SittingDuck » 02.11.2005, 19:01

Progress reports here:

The silbervogel was a theorized space bomber using the skip principle to go around the globe and potentially bomb any target. A special rocket booster on a rail would give the silbervogel or silverbird enough velocity, when it would then use its own engines to gain enough altitude and velocity. It was created by Eugen S?¤nger and Irene Bredt in the 1930s.

What I have done so far;

What do you mean by "can't texture it"?

Don't forget that Celestia only recognizes jpg, png and dds images and requires that they be a power-of-2 on a side. e.g. 128x128, 1024x512 pixels, etc.

Yes thanks I remember this (which saved me last time), but this time the problem is in anim8or itself, any textures i apply will simply change the colour of the silverbird, if I apply a photograph of my cat, it simply turns green all over.

That is strange. Maybe the model is damaged?

What does the icon for that material look like?

When it's mapping a texture, Animator should show a distorted version of the picture mapped onto a sphere in its Material selection column. When it's mapping just a simple color, the corresponding sphere in the Material selection column will be that color.

Also, Anim8or's UV mapping tool for placing textures onto surfaces is rather crude. It's very easy to accidentally wind up with just a small part of the picture being projected onto a solid, for example. I've often found it easier to start over again than to fix it.

What do you mean by the model is damaged? The icon for the texture is normal, as it should be. The UV mapper had no affect ont eh texture. It just remains a solid colour...

How do you mean start over? Like, everything??? :?

That something is wrong with it. If it doesn't accept a texture properly, then the fact that something is damaged is "self evident."

I don't know what you mean by "normal." Are you saying that it is displaying part of the texture image?

hmmm.

How do you mean start over? Like, everything??? :?
At least the part that isn't accepting textures.

Have you looked at the .an8 file? It's just a plain text file, so you can use Notepad. There might be something "obviously wrong" in it.

something then being a polygon or something?

Are you saying that it is displaying part of the texture image?
yes, as it does for previous succesfull texturings.

hmmm.
lol!

At least the part that isn't accepting textures.

That would appear to be everything

Sorry, I have no more suggestions except...
You probably should ask for help on the Anim8or Web forum.
