primer for new C++ developers on Mac OS X?

The primer for new developers is a great idea!!!.. but I'm a new developer on the Mac. Any experienced Mac developers have starup tips for us newbies?

I'll start another thread on the particular topic I need help with...

I may be interested in this too. I'm a physicist, but (shame on me), I never made any coding at all in the past. I forgot the very few of Fortran and C I learned a long time ago. However, I made a lot of Mathematica coding in the past, which I tend to forget too, as I didn't made something with Mma since a long time ago.

I'm beginning to think about doing something for Celestia, but I don't know what, except the few lame addons I made.

There's so much things to do in Celestia's code :

1-drop shadows on 3D models, and especially the shadow under a probe standing on a planet or a moon.

2-BumpMaps on the asteroids.

3-Better comets rendering.

4-Many interface refinements.

5-Adding a field that may pop-up after double-clicking on an object. That field may be a window showing a picture, or some text defined in the associated file on HD.

6-More information in the info corners.

7-An addons manager.

etc...
