RE:Deep Impact addon

I have made a simple model of the probe 'Deep Impact'
Image
I used Jack Higgins model of the Impactor, and made some new xyz's.

I also tried out a simple animation of the impact itself-probably not strictly accurate.
Find it here

Me think.....EXCELLENT !

I luuuurrrvvvvv the animation of the impact, even if it does cause me some slowdown.

I'm just wondering about the rotation of the Impactor, is it spinning around the correct axis ?

Finally....here's a pic of Deep Impact.

A very good idea.
Haven't seen the animation yet, but what about using the 'sunflare' method to depict a huge cloud of ice and dust vaporizing into space?

Two (three?) close connected spheres that exists for one full rotation? Could that be an idea??

I could make any shape model, for the debris, but the dificulty for me is making the textures,in the explosion there are 53 different meshes with 53 different textures, representing the different frames. If anyone can find some nice animations of this kind of stuff that could be used let me know,Jestr

What I meant was a simple, FAST to render model using (invisible) spheres with cloud textures on it.

Let's see if I can outline:
Some spheres (three, five, eight) positioned circular in a way that they intersect at the central point and are stuck inside the comet by half. Different cloud textures on each sphere. Clouds are rotating out of the comet surface, simulating the depris eject. Beginn and ending time for the spheres.

Is this understandable??
The main culprit for that proposal is rendering speed.

Sounds, plausible but not sure how it would look in practice, might be fun to chuck some rocks in amongst the clouds on the textures too.Jestr

I don't know either - but if you've some spare time to play, I'd LIKE to see the results.
