Dear list,
I just installed the most recent version of celestia on my p3 linux box.
However when starting celestia the system completly freezes. No keyboard/mouse input is accepted. Only thing to do is restart the machine. Something not liked very much by linus
I'am running Mandrake 10
kde 3.2. en a graphic card with a 82810E CGC chipset
Who has a clue what is going on here?
Thanks
Arend
system freezes
demo freezes OS 10.3.5
I noticed that when running the demo tour on my eMac under OS X, Celestia 1.3.1 has a tendency to freeze my entire operating system. A thing which many OS X users will confirm, very rarely happens. The only remedy is to pull the plug and restart
Please note that this only occurred when executing "Run Demo". I was able to navigate manually - although I haven't got the hang of it yet. (I get a bit disoriented flying in 3D)

Please read the Preliminary User's FAQ at the top of the Celestia Users Forum, Q/A #1.
A similar problem reported by others was "fixed" by telling Celestia not to try to use vertex shaders. Apparently that code is broken in Apple's recent OpenGL drivers.
To disable use of vertex shaders, edit the file Celestia/celestia.cfg and remove the # that's at the beginning of the line
# IgnoreGLExtensions [ "GL_ARB_vertex_program" ]
