Jestr - Any Plans ...

Post #1by christoria » 12.07.2004, 01:37

Hey,

Are you planning on making a "USS Defiant" add-on for the "Star Trek Universe"? I've been trying, but I cant seem to get it to show up. Celestia finds it, but it's not there - on the screen - at all. I'll keep trying. I actually have a few different ones, too. Of course #Dude's is the best, but I also have Nico's, which I don't think is available anywhere. I got it from him a while back, so I'd have to ask first. And, of course, the ones on "trekmeshes.com".
Thank you,

christoria

Hi Christoria,I was planning to include a model of Defiant in my Bajor addon, but all the models I downloaded had severe defects,I don't have Dudes though ,maybe you could Email it with the textures if you have,I will look again at the others, they are all fixable just quite a bit of work,Jestr

The last one on the page. I can't get it to look right, though. Maybe you can.
Thank you,

Jestr...

Just wanted to take the opportunity to say how much I am ENJOYING your Trek Add ons! Although I cannot utilize DDS files, the textures and models are still remarkably beautiful. In fact, I have an entirely different installation of Celestia just for your Trek stuff! Not to mention the Star Wars add ons.... I'm hoping you do more Stargate stuff in time....

Anyway, thank you!!!

Hi Jestr,

You mentioned above about severe defects in Defiant Models. Would I be right in assuming that the defects occur when you export from 3D Studio to the 3DS format that the defects occur. If so then I may be able to help. I've come accross similar issues with some of my B5 conversions and have worked out a way way of arriving @ 3DS Exports without the errors.

Most of the errors are flipped normals and a few holes. The model referred to above looks good though-lots of multi-textured objects though, which wont work in Celestia.Give me a few days it should be OK,Jestr

Ok,after a lot of work I have got Skye Dodds excellent model of the USS Defiant working in Celestia
Image
I have had to remake all the textures as the ones that came with it were all bump maps and masks (which dont work in Celestia). As you can see I've put it around Deep Space 9 in my Denorios Belt addon, you may wish to move it if it is a strain on your computer,as they are both big models. If you want to download it,here is the URL

Hope you like it,Jestr

Hi Jetstr,
Defiant looks great. Nice work as always.

Coudl you give me a list of things from your creator dir to delete? I know we have some corruped files on the server with working ones right beside them, so we should defintiely get rid of the corrupted ones.

Also, when you give out URL's could you use the http://celestiamotherlode.net/creators/ ones? The reason I ask is usage stats, which are becoming increasingly important as the site grows. Thanks.

Are you considering switching your model format over to CMOD? It looks like it's a lot better. See Chris's post.

Cheers,
Joe

That looks unbelievable! Thank you. I can't wait to try it out.

By the way, odd that nobody posted in this forum for almost five days... all waiting for this add-on?? 8)
Thank you,
