"Fatal Error has occured" after loading Celestia

Post #1by Need a clue :) » 26.05.2004, 02:58

First, forgive me If I'm breaking a rule by posting this subject here. I just found this board and figured someone here could help. If it needs posting somewhere else, let me know. Or if someone has an old thread on this problem please link a URL.

Second, I'm not real swift with computers so please go slow if you have an answer for my problem.

To the problem......

I found Celestia while surfing and downloaded it to my work 'puter. It is outstanding and works great on that system. It's Windows 2000 system.

So.....I really wanted to burn a copy to download on my home computer for our children. It's a Windows 98 system. Burned both the lo-res (5meg)and hi-res (11meg) latest versions on a CD to load at home. The lo-res loaded and installed, but when I go to run a pop-up tells me that "A fatal error has occured and the program will shut down."

I thought Celestia was supposed to work with Windows 98.

Any solutions that you folks might be aware of?

Thanks.

Often the graphics card (i.e. its drivers) are the culprit - which one do you have in the system?

You should consider reading the "Preliminary User's FAQ" at the top of the User's Forum, especially Q1 - Q4.
