Good, thank you Jestr. :P

Yeah I tried it and installed the 3 programs to get it to work but I couldnt seem to transfer anything,my PNG texture is about 3.6Gb so I'm not sure if this is too big or what.I'll try again later in the week and let you know if it works its gonna take over a week of constant uploading anyhow. My FTP seems to be offline at the moment I dont know why but it keeps being rejected by my ISP when I try to connect,Jestr

im not too sure how it works either, i just found the website last week!!

but try emailing them for help

you also need to make sure your file doesn't disappear after 5 days by "refreshing the xnd file", but im not sure how to do this

Also, you should be able to transfer a gigabyte in 5 hours or 10 hours if you have a standard 512/512 or 512/256 d/u connection so it should only take 1 or 2 days to upload 4gb.

The PNG jestr version of blue marbble 64k is by far the best earth texture you could found around. It's incredibly detailed.

But as jestr ftp is inaccessible for a few days, I could make the monster texture (it weights 1.6 Go !!!) available on emule, only if enough people are interested in (it needs a few clients involved). It seems that sharing way is convenient enough, more and more people are using it. So let me know, by pm if you want.

You're an emule user too ? Gee... Gimme the link, I'll post as soon as possible on my website ! I was wondering how to share a so huge texture, but you already did it !

Please, post here the emule link, and send me by email or pm ALL the other links you already share !

Renaming the file does not change anything; but that's very uncommon to have the same "hash id" (file id number) if two different people compress the file on their own side... The best is to have the same original file.

Emule will probably work if you get enough sharers but download speeds will still be slow - v. important for a 1.6gb file. That's why i recommended LORS. You can have just 1 sharer or hundreds and still max out your connection. Using that I could download this texture in 7 HOURS on cable, instead of several days!!

Well, be carefull everyone, some of the jestr links are redundant with mine; jestr will certainly edit his list... The biggest problem on my side is my website is in french... :-/ Maybe if I have more spend time, I'll translate it.

BTW, a lot of addons are begining to be pretty well shared by emule.

Rich, you're absolutly right, but has anything concret be done ?

Hi,

I haven't been here for a while, so I wonder whether there are new level 6-10 vts for the 64k vt jpeg version. I've got "only" that incredible Southern UK.

Ciao

Hi Dora,
Greenwood has just posted something that appears to be a level 1-10 JPG earth texture at the end of the "Distributing large Textures really Fast" thread. However, it looks like the eXnode expired and he will have to repost it. I hav already contacted him about this. Stay tuned....

Joe
