New GeForce 4 MX 440

Post #1by -Shadow- » 25.09.2003, 01:30

I bought a new Ge Force 4 recently for 100$
I wanted one for a while, and finally got one!
I can't wait to see what Celestia will look lke now, If only i could do anything in ps6 or 7, then I'd make some sort of addon...
I'll stick to flash for now, shame the card won't currently fit into my computer... have to cut the metal a little...

Bye,
Shadow

My eyes are burning from reading you bought a GeForce 4 MX, you do know that that card is equivilent to a GeForce 2, and for $100 you got ripped, i've seen them for sale for less than $80, good job buddy.

As far as bang for your buck and suitability for Celestia a very good choice.

Ive used one before with Celestia, and it works very well. It gets better framerates than the FX5200 that I have now. The only thing you will miss out on is the ring shadows.

In Australia you can pick up a 128M GF4MX440 for $110AUD.
128M Ti4200 goes for $180 - $240
128M FX5200 $110

I bought the FX5200 as an upgrade to a MX400, the framerate gain was not that great, advantage is I get to see those excellent ring shadows and it is passivley cooled.

Hopefully my next video card will be a 64M GF4 4200 Go with a laptop extension. :)

Sorry, I can't unterstand this prices. Is it so expensive to transport hardware to Australia ?

in Germany you can get:
64M GF4MX440 for 49 Eur (57$)
128M GF4MX440 for 64 Eur (74$)
64M FX5200 for 64 Eur (74$)
128M FX5200 for 79 Eur (91$)

Bye Jens

PS: I have a GF3 (100 times better than this GF4 MX cards) and has no problems with the Saturn rings and was cheap (by Ebay). My Celestia frame rates: 50 - 100 fps.

Those are US dollars.
I was quoting Australian dollars. :)

@ 1.7AUD to the euro..

64M GF4MX440 for 49 Eur (84$)
128M GF4MX440 for 64 Eur (109$)
64M FX5200 for 64 Eur (109$)
128M FX5200 for 79 Eur (134$)

Im surpised, the comparison is pretty close.

Ill be keeping a look out for a GF3, unfortunately ebay down here isnt that great for computer hardware.
