These may or may not been requested before:
1) For example, when you have added extra asteroids, right-clicking Sun shows huge list of objects and selecting on may be impossible. Solution: hierarchial menus:
planets > Mercury
planets > Venus
...
asteroids > main belt > Ceres
...
asteroids > KBOs > Varuna
...
comets > Halley
...
etc.
That could be defined in .ssc files.
2) Fill-up objects. When you travel far enough from the Sun our data becomes too limited and number of stars drop unnaturally. One solution could be randomly-generated virtual stars. Of course, creating whole galaxy of stars is impossible, so they could be created and forgotten as they come or leave certain distance. Spiral arms could have higher ratio of young giants and central bulge more old stars and so on.
That could work with galaxies, nebulae, asteroids, ring particles, and others as well.
3) Double stars have already been discussed. Creating two stars orbiting a invisible & unselectable center of gravity object could solve the problem.
4) Variable stars shouldn't be difficult to add, at least when they are viewed from distance. Irregulars or semiregulars probably would need real data or randomization. Calculating eclipsing binaries may be more difficult.
Some feature requests
5) Possibility to adjust diffuse lighting, same way as ambient light. Sometimes (read: always) day side of planets or moons look unnaturally dark, so with this option one could select between more realistic or aesthetic view.
6) Visibility of surface locations labels should be more dynamic, large features should be visible from larger distance, and more closer you are, smaller locations are named. Could help when large number of names is defined.
7) Treat surface locations as objects, or searching, selecting and following locations should be possible.
