light issues

i was reading about the voyager spacecraft and i read that it had to take a 30 minute exposure of neptune to get that bright photo because its so dark -- which got me thinking..... shouldnt the light from the sun lose intensity as it travels further in the solar system? yes, it should! But in celestia, when i go to pluto, its very very bright. Just a thought!
