missing menu

Post #1by Philippe » 15.06.2003, 06:36

Hi everybody , I'm using:

Celestia 1.3.0
Linux RH 9.0 with the kernel included or the one from kernel.org
drivers NVIDIA from nvidia.org
GEFORCE 3 Ti 200

Well the thing is, I'm trying to compile with the --with-kde when I made the ./configure.

everything seems to be correct, but when I'm using Celestia, I miss the "navigation" menu.. (The program itself work!, but without this menu... it's difficult to use it  )

If I'm trying "./configure" (without the --with-kde) it's the same thing..

I tried to find something here, maybe I didn't search the right thing, but I didn't find anything..

Is it a bug ? or it's me that have a bug in the brain ? :)

Only "Navigation"? I mean, do you have menu at all? and toolbars? Perhaps you don't have the KDE development libraries installed, and the configure tool downgrades you to a "simpler" interface...

No, I just miss this menu..! (well I think, because I don't know what are the corrects menus, I just seen this one on the documentation) I have the "File, View, Go, Setting" menu, the right button fonction with a context menu..(select, center, goto.. etc etc).

I have a little toolbar (open, home)

I have the library installed , otherwise I can't do the ./configure --with-kde (I think ?)

Of course I made the "make && make install" .

Sorry for my poor english..

Hummm, me too, just noticed.. Christophe is developing the internationalization now, perhaps it's really a bug. Well, you can always navigate by pressing <Return> and typing the name of the place yo want to find. You lack the Celestial Browser and the eclipse finder, although you have the ALT+C and ALT+E Key bindings to access them (I hope so  )

I reproduce the same thing on another machine with the same distribution.

the hardware was different.

When I installed the RH I install "all package" even if I'm not japanese and I don't need those package.. but.. who can do the best, can do the worst :)

RH use KDE 3.1 is it that ?

I tried to compile with the option --use-gtk ( --use-gnome failed because I don't have the glut.h ???? I have it, but it seems that it can't find it with this option...)

I tried to compile with the option --use-x ...

with the three compilations:
I have exactly the same window, with the same menu , with the same design!

I make a "make uninstall" and "make clean" everytime I compile.. is it possible that X use the widget of kde ?????????????????? I don't think so..

I thought that RH installed its own celestia, but when I'm making a "whereis celestia" after a "make uninstall", he doesnt find anything, and of course I can't launch it..

Well... I will try the windows one.. but the last time it freeze when I'm visiting the earth... I hope it will not this time..

On KDE menus and toolbars are build at run time from an XML file.

That XML file is celestiaui.rc and it should be located in $KDEDIR/share/apps/celestia/. Check that it's correctly installed.

Also if you had a previous version installed and if you personalized the toolbar, you may have an older version of that file in ~/.kde/share/apps/celestia, simply remove it.
