Exhibit Stellar Systems

Post #1by Karistus_ » 10.03.2023, 03:26

Background: Exhibit is a fictional set of Observatories located in Wyoming and Australia, the observatories are dedicated to observing confirmed and candidate exoplanet systems, while also discovering a few of their own.

This thread is to collect all of these systems into one place for users to easily download.

PROGRESS: 3/7 SYSTEMS COMPLETED

NOTE: there is a possibility I might make these systems more dynamic (adding moons, axis tilts, etc.) in the future but I don't know if I'm going to fully commit to that

Stellar Systems listed below:

Exhibit-1
The first system solely confirmed by Exhibit

planets of Exhibit-1

Exhibit-1, aka EXOI-162, is a (fictional) K-type main sequence star located about 88.42 lightyears from the solar system in the constellation of Orion. In 2014, Exhibit North published a paper confirming three of the systems inner planets and marking four additional candidates planets from from combined transit and radial velocity observations. a follow up report published in 2021 confirmed the other five planets. This system features a spread out system of three sub-Earth sized planets, an Earth-sized planet within it's habitable zone, a cool Neptune, and two cold super-Jupiters.

UPDATE (15/08/2023):
Exhibit-1 has received a lot of changes within its remaster update, aside from the basic textures and atmosphere changes heres everything updated about the planets themselves
Spoiler
Exhibit-1 b (EXOI-162.01):
- new shorter, eccentric orbit (from 35 days to 11.3 days, eccentricity from 0 to 0.08)
- mass increased (0.17 Me to 0.197 Me)

Exhibit-1 d (EXOI-162.03)
- mass increased (0.56 Me to 0.707 Me)

Exhibit-1 e (EXOI-162.02)
- new longer, eccentric orbit (from 209 days to 246 days, eccentricity from 0 to 0.04)
- smaller radius (1.17 Re to 1.03 Re)

Exhibit-1 f (EXOI-162.04)
- new longer orbit (524 days to 954 days)

Exhibit-1 g (Exhibit-162.05)
- mass increased (299 Me to 471 Me)

Exhibit-1 c (EXOI-162.06) and Exhibit-1 h (EXOI-162.07) are new planets

Below are three downloads: one with high res textures for the planets, one with lower res textures, and one for the moons

[Download High Res] (98.2 MB)

[Download Lower Res] (26.14 MB)

[Download Moons] (70.9 MB)

Exhibit-3
A system still under active study

exhibit_3.png

Exhibit-3, also known as EXOI-254. Is a (fictional) G-type main sequence star located about 226 lightyears from the solar system in the constellation of Leo. In 2015 a vote held at both observatories ended in this system getting a brief year-long transit and radial velocity observations. In late 2016 their results were published with the confirmation of three of the inner planets and marking eight additional candidates. a follow-up study, published in 2023, confirmed the rest of the candidates. this system hosts 10 confirmed planets: a mini-Neptune, two sub-Earths, two Neptune-sized planets, two super-Earths within its habitable zone, one sub-Jupiter, and two super-Jupiters. Exhibit-3 holds the record for the most amount of planets orbiting any star(s), beating Sol and Kepler-90.

Both Exhibit observatories have pledged to do another follow-up study to get better results for the outermost planets.

Update V2:
Spoiler
General Changes:
- Higher resolution textures for all planets
- Planets d, g, h, i, j have new textures

Planet Specific Changes:
- Exhibit-3 b:
-- Larger size (0.54 Re --> 2.54 Re)
-- Higher mass (0.108 Me --> 6.36 Me)

- Exhibit-3 d:
-- Minorly eccentric orbit (0 --> 0.06)

- Exhibit-3 g:
-- Minorly eccentric orbit (0 --> 0.09)
-- Removed old alt surface
-- Now has a single rocky moon

- Exhibit-3 h:
-- Minorly eccentric orbit (0 --> 0.072)
-- Now has three icy moons

- Exhibit-3 i:
-- Now has seven moons. three rocky and four icy

- Exhibit-3 j:
-- Increased mass (319 Me --> 455 Me)
-- New eccentric orbit (0 --> 0.0831)
-- Shorter orbital period (39.4 yr --> 38.8 yr)
-- Rings are back
-- Now has five icy moons

Exhibit-2
Circumbinary gas giant collection

exhibit_2_system.png
All planets of Exhibit-2

Exhibit-2, aka EXOI-377, is an eclipsing binary system of two K-type main sequence stars located about 146 lightyears from the solar system in the constellation Eridanus. In 2014, Exhibit South chose this system to do an in-depth year-long combined transit and radial velocity observations. in 2015 their results were published in a paper that marked the transit events as a part of an eclipsing binary though they did find two sub-Jupiter mass planets orbiting the binary with four more additional candidates. in 2021, shortly after Exhibit-1's follow up paper was published, Exhibit-2's was confirming the outer four candidates. in total, six planets consisting of four sub-Jupiters and two Jupiter-mass planets were found to orbit the binary. Exhibit-2 holds the record for the most amount of planets orbiting two stars.
