Thanks everyone for joining so quickly. Excellent.

ElPelado

Keep in mind that there are a lot of people out there that do not have shockwave flash.
Rather than have it on your front page its better have links to any flash content and clearly label it (requires shockwave flash).
And definitely dont use it for your download links.

Your welcome to join of course.

Praesepe, I've added "(requires internet explorer)" to the end of your page description. Im pretty sure that this is the case, anyone please correct me if I am wrong.

Ok marc, my page is back up. I tried talking to the guy online, because I have his screen name, but he just blew me off. I'll try again later tonight.

Mostly true, some users that weren't using IE had problems accesing to my website, I may try to remake the whole site in order to fix it :?

Stay clear of word and powerpoint then, they always create horribly bloated internet explorer specific HTML. I use .NET to make my webpages but thats a bit of an overkill.
Frontpage 97 is good to use (i cant vouch for later versions).
I cant think of any good free html editors that offer a wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) user interface, but im sure there is something like that out there. And of course there is always notepad but that means learning some HTML.
Suggestions anyone?

Mozilla? 1.4RC1 now has click and drag table and image resizing. I've never used it and personnaly prefers to see the code I'm writting to using some WYSIWYG tool.

Since it's now got the lion's share of the browser market Microsoft seems to have stoped all development on IE so if you want 'modern' features you'd better start using Mozilla or Opera or whatever...

I like WYSIWYG because im lazy. I started using the web page composer in Mozilla 1.3.1 just today. It's better than anything I've seen, easy to use and free as well. Thanks for pointing it out.

added later,
For those who just want to use mozilla's composer you can run it directly by adding -edit to the target in the Mozilla shortcut.
eg: "C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozilla.exe" -edit
This way just the editor starts up and not the Mozilla browser.

Just bumping this thread back up to the top again...

Lots more people have addons sites now, and won't have seen this thread before. If you have an addons site for Celestia, Join the webring!

Go to http://mostlyharmless.sourceforge.net/c ... d=celestia to join.

As you can see from http://mostlyharmless.sourceforge.net/c ... d=celestia there are currently only 7 members, but there are far, FAR more addons sites than that...!!

Join it.. NOW!! :D

Thanks for encouraging everyone Jack, the ring is growing fast now!

There are three inactive sites:
1. fsgregs - Frank's Celestia Page
2. JCP - JohnsCelestiaPage
3. tisca - Earth specular reflection map

All sites in the ring need the webring code (and preferably image) on their main page. I cannot activate pages until the code is present otherwise they break the ring.

Code: Select all

      <!-- BEGIN Celestia Web Ring code -->
      <p align="center">
      <!--please get a copy of the logo and put it on your own webspace the below link will need to be modified-->
      <img border="0" src="http://mostlyharmless.sourceforge.net/webring/cwr_white.gif" width="138" height="131">
      <!--delete the image link replace and it with Celestia Web Ring if you wish-->
      </p>
      <p align="center">[ <a href="http://mostlyharmless.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/ringlink/list.pl?ringid=celestia;siteid=YOURSITEID" target="_top">List</a>
      <a href="http://mostlyharmless.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/ringlink/rand.pl?ringid=celestia;siteid=YOURSITEID" target="_top">Random</a>
      <a href="http://mostlyharmless.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/ringlink/next.pl?ringid=celestia;siteid=YOURSITEID" target="_top">Next</a> ]</p>
      <!-- END Celestia Web Ring code -->

Make sure you replace YOURSITEID with your site id.
