China's space program is a military program, not a civilian one (just like the Soviets did before glastnost and perestroika went into effect), so it wouldn't be surprising if they didn't release anything. As a matter of fact, only the Long March 5 and Shenzhou launches were the only ones publicly livestreamed. The reason why we have images of the Chang'e landers, Yutu and Tianwen publicly available is that their government and military allowed ittrappistplanets wrote:i hate it how china refuses to release some data and stuff like a shape model of toutatis derived from chang'e 2's images

so one no from the goverment could have still make toutatis a unknown object other than radarDaveBowman2001 wrote:China's space program is a military program, not a civilian one (just like the Soviets did before glastnost and perestroika went into effect), so it wouldn't be surprising if they didn't release anything. The Chinese regularly post data from their missions to either the PDS or their own PDS (as with the Chang'e missions). The claims about military secrecy are overblown. If there's not a toutatis model yet, it's because no one has bothered to create one and place it in a publicly accessible place. This is a much lower-level issue than "military secrecy" and something that you can fix by either creating your own model, or e-mailing the author(s) who have used Chang'e 2-derived Toutatis imagery and hope that they respond - though like with their global peers, there's no guarantee that they will.so one no from the goverment could have still make toutatis a unknown object other than radar

YOU LITERLY EMAILED the author of the paper that the model was shown in so you can get your hands on it
(speaking of this, did your email get any replies?)
so the model does exist but i can't find any puplic downlinks

I'm preparing the trajectory of the Fly Safe spacecraft to release on this thread... which turns into political discussion out of nowhere! Please tell me we can put the thread on topic again... What the heck did we do to deserve this...

SolarMax (2021)
It continued to orbit Earth gathering data about the Sun until 1989, when an intense geomagnetic storm over Canada in March 1989 sped up its orbital decay until it reentered the atmosphere on 2 December 1989

I have created normal maps for solar panels and other large elements of models to make them look more realistic... so in pictures below you can see result... you can download updated models and textures now...
