Request WD 1586 and its planet WD 1586 b

https://gadgets.ndtv.com/science/news/exoplanet-wd-1586b-discovered-nasa-tess-2296737

Astronomers have discovered a planet the size of Jupiter closely orbiting the smouldering remains of a dead star, the first time that an intact exoplanet has been discovered travelling around a white dwarf.

Would be nice to recreate :)

I would recommend Sirius_Alpha's exoplanet catalogue. It has all known exoplanets and is updated monthly, and it has WD 1586 b.

thank you, both.

That great resource has WD 1856 b, not WD 1586 b.

I know they are easy to mix up :D 1856......1586....

WD 1586 was only discovered last month.

I don't need textures. I would just love all the important info needed to make the exoplanet.ssc and exploplanet-star.stc files needed.
or in this case, the WD156b.ssc and WD156.stc files needed. The info is so new that I can't find the information to make those appropriate files!
Oh and yes, the texture they keep making for WD 1586 b is a purple gas giant. Why purple? Who knows? :D

You're right, they're easy to mix up... I even wrote 1586 in my own post. :insane: But it looks like the article https://gadgets.ndtv.com/science/news/exoplanet-wd-1586b-discovered-nasa-tess-2296737 has the incorrect designation. It links to the original scientific paper (Vandenburg et al. (2020)), which says WD 1856+534.

So I'm pretty certain they are referring to the same planet.

Yes they are. Bad astronomers or else reporters relaying the astronomical data! :boxing: :fie: Hehe

Added after 3 minutes 8 seconds:
LukeCEL, I have Celestia Origin and it doesn't like modifications to its exoplanet files. Very strange.
I can't seem to get the WD 1856 b ssc and stc star file...just for that one system to work in it and i made it myself.
bah!

I have made this planet, considering it WD 1856 b
Here's link, the planet is at the bottom of my theme.
