CO files are installed in the folder with Celestia.

Is there any information on what is the license of these textures? I'm developing a space-themed game and it would be awesome if I could use them, with proper attribution. However, the archive does not contain any license information...

In most cases, it can be used with attribution.

Thanks! Does that include also commercial releases (in case it is ever published)? I'm not opposed to licensing or a donation if that helps. It is surprisingly difficult to find high quality textures of the non "mainstream" inner planets.

If you are interested in the textures of the inner planets, then they are definitely freely available. Moreover, it is not necessary to take from us.

No I was referring to those beyond Jupiter and their major moons. For example, the best freely available texture for Neptune I was able to find was "only" 2k.

TheWanderer, hi, this is one of the "features", during many years of development, licenses have never been given attention. There are both commercial and non-commercial content, but all freely available. I made many of outer Solar system textures, some of them with sources and licenses are on my DeviantArt. Others are mentioned in ReadMe.

Texture made by me using recent Hubble data (for those who don't know).
Been into Astronomy since the age of 3 or 4. Started making planetary textures back in late 2016. 3D animator who makes high quality animations in Cinema 4D. Likes to sometimes, deliberately torment myself with the stupid green screaming apatosaurus that is Arlo.

Post #153by Duglis » 18.10.2020, 15:25

When you manually tick off some add-on boxes, is there a way to save that so you don't have do this again the next time you run the program?

What kind of settings do you mean? If you are talking about a graphical interface, then not yet.

Most of this is spacecrafts can be found in this thread.

However, I would like to note that we improved the orbits of some spacecraft. In particular, the same "INSAT-3E". The nearest release will take place on October 30th.

The base of comets has been completely re-created for the first time since January 2016.

  • Added 358 new comets;
  • The list of numbered periodic comets has been increased from 349 to 402;
  • Added a new standard model for contact-binary objects;
  • Simplified search by discoverers (surname or telescopes);
  • Changed the default color of comets.
