Comet 67P from 3ds to cmod

Post #1by Alejandro » 31.01.2019, 19:52

Hello to all!
Is it possible to convert this incredible 67p comet from .3ds to .cmod file?

It is a really amazing model that would be fine to enjoy at Celestia!

Thanks in advance!

Thank you John for the data.
However, despite knowing the converter and even trying (without suceed) severals models, I always get the same result: model incomplete with lack of texture as shown in capture.

I also would like to share to all this texture destinated to this comet or whichever existing comet:

Thank you again

Unfortunately, the 3DS mesh doesn't contain any texture coordinates, so you can't map any textures onto it. You'll have to contact whoever created the mesh and ask to have it repaired. Perhaps some method of recreating the 3DS mesh from the original model would work.

Also, the mesh isn't oriented correctly in its internal coordinate system, so it doesn't rotate around the correct axis.

hi! if you are a Windows user download this program: lithUnwrap for free, open the 3DS model in there, apply the spherical UV map and re-save the model.

Added after 6 minutes 32 seconds:
For obj file only, which are bigger in number of polygons, use this: UVMapper (classic is free).
Never at rest.

Thanks a lot

I share to you the new texture I want to use to the comet:
