Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
the other night i was sort of watching " Pandorum" at 3 AM
and thought that one of the tutorials should be an add on
once you make some planets then what ...
a 4 k test of the 16kmap texture and normal , 4k cloud
from a pirate-bay torrent viewing two parts frame by frame
two other known maps are used in the movie
Io ( a dark brown version ) and Enceladus( with blue "fresh " lines) it looks like Steve alberts map but there are some others including a old and nolonger up copy of mine )
-- i can not post a shot from the movie ( copy right "fun" and all that )
from the 16k maps

Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
I can watch this view all day... and nearly have!
A superb shuttle model at last... too late. I'll miss watching the missions on NASA TV.

Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
I've been working on a set of wallpapers using Linuxm@n's Addon to show the ISS assembly. So far my attempts to contact him haven't gotten any response.
Here are two of them.
p.s.
My requirements for a "wallpaper" are rather different from the usual eye candy. I want the left side to be relatively dark and/or have low frequency imagery. This is so that my desktop icons stand out and their labels are readable. "High frequency" imagery includes lots of thin lines or are otherwise "busy", which tend to distract from the icons and/or hide the lettering,

A rather pleasant view of Earth looking aft from the shuttle. SpaceHab payload is in the foreground...

ISS model by linuxm@n, clouds by John Van Vliet, Earth surface by Jestr, drawn by Celestia, screengrab by me.
I frustrated over where to put this -- Celestia was used, but it isn't an Addon.
This is one of the pictures in a collection of 27 wallpapers which i have uploaded to DeviantArt at http://celestiaguru.deviantart.com/#/d31a4dp
The collection shows the progressive assembly of the International Space Station.

I've had the same problem with my wallpaper (unfortunately I cannot find the picture anymore); for myself I've solved the problem this way...selden wrote:"High frequency" imagery includes lots of thin lines or are otherwise "busy", which tend to

(The example picture shows a HST model from http://hubblesource.stsci.edu/sources/modelbuilders/ perfectly modified by jestr)
Just a thought...
And let me say: I like these pictures of the International Space Station as a very good ISS documentation.

Michael

I love Celestia - it's a dream-come-true for creating cool spacey backgrounds in Poser & Bryce & other 3D applications -
I used some Jupiter captures for this series . . .

Toliman Prime - Alpha Centauri A
July 25th 2316
one of the First extrasolar planets colonised by man this world was like its nighbour in the Alpha Centauri B system, a wet Mars like world. the only difference was a small population of Microorganisms lived on the surface. The little world however was freezing over and within a million years or so it would be too cold for life. It is in stark contrast to the orange globe hanging in the sky. Toliman Maxima coulndnt be more opposite. smothered in thick carbon dioxide clouds pushing the temperature into the high 600K range while Toliman Prime freezes. its a vision of hell from a slowly dying heaven. This all changed with the arrival of humans, the heavy industry brought to the planet released greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere and slowly over the centuries, Toliman Prime warmed. it remains the only world to have been "accidently Teraformed"
