I'm new to celestia add-ons, and I'm currently having no success at installing higher res textures...
I've read other posts in this forum that talk about putting the .dds files in a "medres" directory... but a directory where? c:/program files/celestia/medres?? or c:/program files/celestia/textures/medres?? other??
I edited solarsys.ssc to refer the new texture (it is an 8K version that someone was talking about in another post in this forum)
I need help urgently, all I can see after these tries is a white earth...
I'm using a geforce 2 MX graphics board.
thanks in advance
how to use .dds textures?

hi first open the Celestia folder in c:\ ????? where ever you put it
the dobble click on the textures folder then dobble click on the medres folder
put it in there
then open the data file and open the solarsys .ssc with notepad
edit the part for clouds for earth
Atmosphere {
Height 60
Lower [ 0.5 0.5 0.65 ]
Upper [ 0.3 0.3 0.6 ]
Sky [ 0.3 0.6 0.9 ]
CloudHeight 17
CloudSpeed 165
CloudMap "EarthClouds(01-31-03) .dds"
# CloudMap "EarthClouds(02-12-03).png"
"EarthClouds(01-31-03) .dds" THIS MUST BE THE SAME AS THE TEXTURE IN THE MEDRES FILE (the two MUST be the same )
you can use any name you like as long as they match
