A Star Trek system I been trying to make. The Tellarite system at 61 Cygni A.

Tellar is a heavily industrialized world.
Image

It has two large moon that orbit rather close. I can only imagine what the tidal forces would be like. :?
Image

The two moons have some rather odd geography.

Image

The moons seen from the surface, sorry no surface features added yet.
Image

And look who decided to come visit.
Image

If anybody is wondering what a Tellarite is then have a look.

1) The asteroid belt, from the educational activities
2) The space colony Daedalus, a "Stanford Torus" type space colony
3) and 4) Colonies on Mercury, taken from the Arcbuilder Universe

I guess what was confusing was the description "Dyson Sphere enclosing the Sun". (I couldn't see what this picture had to do with a Dyson Sphere).
I didn't even realize that the plant Mercury was there (I guess ambient light was OFF?)

Thanks for the clarification.

And a gas giant with a luminous band (a 'sunline')

Image

This one with the lightband looks nice and very strange at the same time. Is that the normal nightside to the right of the picture or a colorization of your texture?
And how is the whole nightside looking like?

Regards,

Guckytos

I tried using a 'nightlights' texture to get this effect, but it didn't quite work- the day and night brightness didn't match. So I simply made a half dark texture with a bright strip on the dark side- then I made the whole planet 'emissive true'.
That means it doesn't rotate, unfortunately.

I just love Earth orbit shots. This is using jestr's Earth mark II 64k VT textures and Harald Schmidt's 32k VT cloud map. :blue:

Beta Virginis - Rose, Humility and Kindness
26th October 3004

The Gas Giant Rose, named for its pink rose coloured clouds orbits in the comfort zone of Beta Virginis, 42.5 Light Years form Epsilon Eridani. It was colonised initially by the empire as a mining facility especially because of the rich nature of Humility’s clouds (then named unimaginatively Rose b).

Humility initially was a warm titanian type world with a high concentration of Nitrogen, Methane, Ammonia, and Carbon Dioxide in its atmosphere.
It was targeted for terraformation during the 30th century as part of the "24" project, with 23 other Moons and planets around the local solar systems, one including Rose c (named Kindness)

Rose and Humillity.jpg

Due to the atmospheric composition, Humility was never a pleasant planet to stay on. Non native needed re-breather apparatus to cope with the uncomfortably high amounts of Methane and ammonia still in the atmosphere. Kindness however was the more successful, terraforming into a beautiful warm world with pleasant skies and nice lakes. As such, Kindness is more of a popular destination. Humility may be abandoned in the future. The atmosphere processors will be shut down and it will slowly slip back into its titianian Class.

I was looking at our local stellar neighborhood from afar, and saw that the distribution of blue stars is mainly in the galactic plane.
Image

When looking at it from above, the distribution of blue stars appears more "even."

The new movie of Cameron, Avatar ( in my opinion, the best movie ever) inspired me so much to do system who will look like this one with movie. Don’t be surprised, if you will see some of new things in this system, like rings added to Polyphemus. I will add to this system some fresh air . I hope you all will like this system when he will be done. 8)

The planetary system depicted in Avatar is a work of fiction. You won't find any further information outside of fan art or something. Neither Polyphemus or Pandora exist (not to say that planets do not exist at Alpha Centauri).
Current Setup:
Windows 7 64 bit. Celestia 1.6.0.
AMD Athlon Processor, 1.6 Ghz, 3 Gb RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

I didn't put them on motherlode because I didn't make them. They are imported models and textures from a game. The station is a modified version of fungun's regula station.
I'll send them to you in email if you want. :)
