Any batch image processing reccomendations (for VT images)?

Hi all,

I am interested in altering John Van Vliet's beautifully complete Venus Virtual Texture to make the surface look yellow (at the moment it's gray, but i'd like to have it look like it would if you could see through the clouds rather than if the clouds weren't there. In Photoshop it's pretty simple to adjust the colours on a single image, but since this is a virtual texture, there are a large number of individual images.

Is there a (hopefully freeware) way to adjust the colours of many images at once?

Chris and Liar, PS has already an automatic batch scripting capability, as follows:
Click "windows"> "Actions">"create new action" (4th bottom button from left), give it a name you like and push "record" , then push "begin recording" (second from left), and apply to one of your images all the actions you need, e.g. brightness/contrast, hue/saturation, color balancing, curves, unsharp mask, etc.
When you have finished retouching, "save as" in the relevant folder and with the preferred extension, then press "close" .
Now to finish the process press "stop playing/recording" (first from left).
Now open all the images you wish to modify the same way, open "windows"> "Actions"> click the action name you just saved, and start pressing the "play selection" button (third from left).
You'll see that the images show the process of retouching, one action after the other, then will disappear ("save as" and "close" , remember?).
Press once again for each image, and in a very short time all your images will be modified.
It looks a very long job, but believe me, it's a matter of just a few minutes.

Yes Chris, I know, but I think that for the needs of a beginner as, I suppose, Liar is, the other way is more "instinctive", don't you agree?

Well... if you have 10 images, why not but if they are many hundreds (like a VT) I suppose using the batch tool is not superfluous...

Try something like: XnView.

(MediaCoder will have also batch image processing, it's on the roadmap.)
(But don't expect anything soon.)

If you are interested in processing a LOT of texture images files, using a simple interface designed for Brain-Dead users, try Irfanview.
This is another freeware graphics utility. This program offers very quick viewing of texture files, and it contains batch programming capabilities. This is very useful if you ever need to modify the various properties of many Celestia textures at once.
