COROT space telescope launches - anyone willing to design it
Hi folks:
Edited for spelling:
I just read a news report that the ESA's COROT space telescope has launched and is operational. Its task will be to scan the environment of nearby stars for the presence of earth-like planets. It will be similar in design and function to the Kepler telescope to be launched by NASA in 2007, but I think it is a bit smaller.
Has anyone plans to create a graphical add-on of COROT? I would love to bring Celestia users to it in one of my educational activities.
Frank

If someone goes for documents I could do it between too Apollo models...
That's great news.
OK, here is the website. Its got lots of documents, including a virtual mockup of the spacecraft from a variety of angles (in the Media Gallery), plus drawings, photos, etc. Some of it is even in French!!

Last month, as you see, i have found somebody that helped me to compile the ssc file. I think it is the right one but i'm no very expert.
Tahnks again to Boux and symaski62.

Do you think it's too much?
Everyway i have used spacecraft sized over then 25 mb and it seems have no problem in visualization.
(Sorry to be late...)
Of course if your config rocks, no problemo...
10/15 Mo optimized? that's quite big! the model will be in very high res then? Actually your panels represent how many poly?

Bye
"Self made" is synonimous of bad? Damned, I'm also a self made 3D modeller...
From your 183k poly for the panels I think you should have a look at an old thread of mine about optimization.

Anyway, Tx for the work, I'll go for a test.
Carlytos,
please, remove all the invisible (hidden) triangles on your model. Also, take care of the intermittent "flashing" parts, especially along the white "rim" in the middle of your last picture. This is extremelly annoying, in Celestia. There's a similar effect, on your Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter model, on its solar panels. This destroys completelly your model and I was unable to correct it and had to trash it !

"Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin", thought Alice; "but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!"
