Cockpit overlay in CEL 1.5?

Post #1by brightnysalor » 21.01.2008, 22:04

Folks

My learning curve continues. my thanks to all of you who have contributed addons and documentation.

Is it possible to load the cockpit overlay into the Celestia 1.5 pre-release, or can it only be used with the EDU version?

With Thanks

John

Don't know about Frank's EDU overlay yet, because I haven't
gotten that far in my testing of everything listed on the ML.

However, ElChristou's Atlantis (With Flight-Deck) works perfectly in
1.5. You may wish to try that add-on too. Go to the CM website to
get this model. It's located HERE.

I don't yet know if the cockpit image will work in 1.5.0. The EDU version of 1.4.1 has a specific keystroke command (F9) to bring up the cockpit.

I intend to test out the entire educational package on 1.5.0, once the final version is close to release. Based upon Chris's release of 1.5.0pre6, with a note that this will probably be the last pre-release before 1.5.0 final, I will begin testing my activities on 1.5.0 ASAP.

The educational version of 1.5.0 will probably still have to be customized by Vincent for me, because 1.5.0 does not have sound, and sound is a vital part of the educational use of Celestia. Vincent has told me he will add sound coding to 1.5.0 only after 1.5.0 is final (so he doesn't have to do the same thing with every pre-release). That makes perfect sense.

Regards

Frank

Celestia 1.5.0 final is out. :)

The new script features of Celestia 1.5.0 mean that no changes need to be made to Celestia in order to use a cockpit overlay. It should also be possible to add sound support with an external Lua library, so that Celestia itself doesn't have to be modified (though you can still modify Celestia if it's more convenient.)

Chris: That is GREAT!

Where can I learn how to write those script commands to add the cockpit? has anyone developed a new script manual?

As to using LUA to add sound, that is great also. I will contact Vincent ASAP to see what has to be done.

Thanks

Yes, this is a very good new addition, requested for a long time.
Now, please, can someone explain what we have to do to have it working?
A lot of thanks.
