If you are referring to your spacecraft models, I have already finished
with that section. If your models are still in there, then they will
remain there. :wink: I may have added further explanations
though.

As far as drinking goes, I'm about to get stinking drunk for the next
two days. I'm afraid that this is the only way I can stand my
relatives.

Hi, Bob. Thanks for asking. My Comahue texture can be deleted. It is outdated. When I made it, Google Earth didn't exist, nowadays you can see my car parked at my door if you wish. If I ever adapt it to match a BMNG texture, I will publish it again, with proper readme's and instructions.

I somebody, for whatever reason, might want it in the future (?!) they just can contact me, I have a copy on CD (I'm certainly not using it in my current installation, BMNG+spec2+normals is so good enough).

EDIT:

John's VT Moon texture was DELETED. Was missing CTX file, SSC
file and any kind of instructions, and the textures had large black
gaps in them. Oh, and it also presents problems because it was
made via 7-zip.

Jack's Lunar crash and landing sites SSC collection. This was
DELETED because it defined sites on the Moon in terms of
asteroids or spacecraft (in orbital paths) rather than with a single
standard location SSC file. It also called on models which had
NOT been included in the add-on. I also tried to contact Jack with
NO success.

Sorry, fair warning was given, and I DID try to do the right thing
here.
These add-ons were just NOT up to par, and no one really argued
to keep them on the Motherlode.

Guillermo,

Your VT is still safely on the Motherlode. Was nothing wrong with
it, and it installed correctly and displayed it's textures as it
should have.

Cartrite's 3D version of Mars causes my machine to crash and die
either using Celestia 1.4.1 or 1.5 Pre5.

I am going to DELETE this add-on unless someone has an explanation
for me. It's located HERE.

Stephen? Any thoughts as to why this might occur? Am using 4K DDS
surface and normal map textures, but nothing strange besides that.

It works fine for me.
I fear you're getting bit by a graphics driver bug.

Yup: that's what it means when it says it died in nvoglv32.dll
I'm sure the name is short for NVidia OpenGL V32
I can't find any file named nvoglv??.dll in Nvidia's XP driver directory: it seems to be named nvoglnt.dl_ in a directory with a name corresponding to the driver version number:
C:\NVIDIA\Win2K\163.75\English\nvoglnt.dl_

Note that it does show a defect in atmosphere generation for Mesh objects -- there's a black area in the valley below the bottom of the atmosphere.

Okay, I appreciate your information, Selden. Seems that none of
Cartrite's add-ons work on my machine. I'll check again for updates
today, but this is really weird. Other add-ons work just fine.

Aside from it being a rather hazy day and a particularly hoary frost nipping at my fingers through my pressure suit, the addon worked fine on my computer...

However, I cannot use dds because my graphics card is limited...

Okay, here's the deal...

I downloaded the very latest force-ware updates for my Nvidia
graphics card, and THEN Windows had a nice 50MB update for me.

Didn't help a bit though. Still cannot use these add-ons. Celestia still
crashes and dies. Both versions.

This was an extremely educational exercise though. I check for
updates on a daily basis, and prior to getting the latest force-ware
for my card, I was repeatedly informed that NO UPDATES existed for
my machine.

Apparently, I have to check for Nvidia updates myself. I thought that
I had the very latest version of this force-ware, using the latest
stable release listed on the site. I went from 163.75 to 169.
something. So even though I still can't use Stephen's
add-ons, I learned something here. So how do I test these
add-ons? Guess I don't.

Hmmph.. $%@**&&

Nevermind. I will NOT delete them. :wink:

I got no idea why my addons would cause this. I never heard anything like this before. I don't have Vista nor am I ever getting it so I got no way of testing if it is a Vista issue. If you feel that all my addons should be deleted because they are causing you problems, go ahead. That will save me the trouble of uploads and updates to the motherlode. I still maintain some addons at my web site.

EDIT. The 3dmars model at the motherlode uses a mars texture that is called mars.*. BUT, I found out that if you use a texture that has an alpha channel, This causes the model to be invisible if you are using OGL2 and the new atmosphere settings. But I never heard of it causing Celestia to crash.
The model at the motherlode also has NO tangents so normalmaps do not work. Normalmaps for meshes only became available in Celestia 1.5 and the model was made while 1.4 was still being used. Maybe the normalmap you are using is causing problems?

Don't worry. I really do NOT arbitrarily delete add-ons because I
don't like them. As long as others can use them, that's good
enough for me.

Latest deletion candidate is now GONE.
This was dbrady's Mars VT add-on. Had lots of problems, but primarily
NO installation instructions, overlapping VT levels and textures, and
mass confusion.

Hi Bob, I've sent on Motherlode the Mars' interiors and the new model of the interior of the Earth plus the main .STC file; thus, you can trash the old Earth's interior, now obsolete and in wrong orientation. For the seismic tomography now i'm playing a bit with the new features of NURBS of my modeller, so I think to rebuild in best way the core up-downwelling movements in order to avoid the pictured texture; then I shall send it as usual.

New candidates for deletion:

These are all 8K VT's for the moons of Jupiter...

None of these add-ons contain any installation instructions, and
none contain an SSC file to be placed in the extras folder so that the
respective VT's can be selected via right-click on the particular moon.

The reason I hesitate is that I can add the necessary code for those
who do NOT know how to create the SSC files, and I can also
explain the installations. Should I do this, or simply DELETE the
offending add-ons?
