What is Celestia?

:?: I blundered into this BB while searching for info on a new computer. The postings look quite interesting and I have registered as a new member but am curious about the general definition odf the group.
Thanks for any information someone can provide.

Celestia is a free, extensible, 3D, realtime astronomy program.

You might take a look at the WikiBook at
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Celestia
and the Users Guide at http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catal ... ation.html

What relevance does this question have to Physics & Astronomy?

Um... it is a question about Celestia... which is a physics and astronomy simulation. ;)

Why the question concerning Physics and Astronomy in the first
place?

If a person can't ask about Celestia in the Users forum, then where the hell CAN he ask it?

Boy... You people are sure getting picky in your old ages.

Bob,

Sorry for the confusion: I moved it to a more appropriate forum.

Well in that case... MY APOLOGIES to all. Still, if the admittedly NEW
user is simply trying to gain information concerning our favorite
past-time, couldn't we be a TAD more accommodating in our replies?

I might, for example, express a welcome to the new member, along
with a polite explanation of the reasons why his post might be more
acceptable in the USERS area.

Not everyone grows up on Forums, ya know...

Of course, if the user CONTINUALLY violated good etiquette, then
I'd just hunt him down with a baseball bat.

I'll shut up now.
