Aw shucks folks...
Don, you KNOW that if I act like I AM, then Selden will just have to boot
me back OFF of the forum. I'm going to TRY to be good for a while. It's
tough, but I'll try. Honest Selden!
Look at the bright side though... It shouldn't get too boring here for a
while. Hee, hee...

Linux?
Well, just:
- a way to get rid of windows ... and ...
- don't shell $$s for an OS
- very easy way to build from the latest CVS tree
- quick changes to the code, builds and testing
- smoother Celestia run
- make others believe you're a geek!
He, most importantly, have fun

Sorry, couldn't resist. You guys oughtta KNOW how I am by now.
Hee, hee again. Damn, I'm having fun with this new PC, but a note to all:
Don't EVER use Windows Home Premium Vista. Whatta piece of crap.
First, I tried using the thing in it's natural mode, and it kept locking up and
freezing every 20 minutes or so.
NOW, I'm using it in the XP-compatible mode, and nothing works as it
should. If I add a new sound and apply it to Windows start-up only, it
plays every time I start ANY program. Just one small example. You
should have seen what I had to do to get Celestia working again.
Man Oh Man...

Hey Bob,
can't you downgrade to Windows XP (Professional)? I think they offer it now for PCs, at least the bigger companies like Dell, if i remenber the article correctly.
I will start using Vista, when they pry XP out of my dead cold harddrive

I'm going to TRY and get it I think. Surely someone will sell me an XP disk.
Are you telling me that I can't get one? If THAT's the case, I guess I'll just
hafta put up with this stupid thing until I get some more updates.
Is anyone else out there using Vista?

Hey Bob, very happy to see you here once again, welcome!
I consider you my cel scripts teacher, some of my Tours are based on your previous works, and all the others have been inspited by this experience. My students enjoy them.
Thank you for all what you did and what you are going to do.
Bye
Andrea

Didn't really do that much Andrea, but thanks very much for the kind
words. I really missed this place while I was away. Got to go to the
hospital again tomorrow, but I believe that I'll be coming back this time.
By the way, I am going to re-write my original tour scripts (in CEL of
course). I just don't have the brains anymore to understand LUA. The
reason I wrote ANY scripts in the first place was simply to show off
what this marvelous piece of software could do for the average Joe
on the street who knows NOTHING about space. Seems to have
worked around here at least. My neighbors all want me to set up
Celestia on their PC's.

No, you inspired a lot of people to go on with cel scripting, giving us well done and inspiring scripts.BobHegwood wrote: Didn't really do that much Andrea, but thanks very much for the kind words. I really missed this place while I was away.
This is what happened to me, at least.
Sure you'll do!BobHegwood wrote:Got to go to the hospital again tomorrow, but I believe that I'll be coming back this time.

Now that I see you have a PC that allows you to enjoy all the wonderful stuff made available in the last year, I'll be pleased, if you agree, to submit you one of my scripts (sorry, in Italian, but the images will clarify the intentions) to know your opinion.
Bye soon
Andrea
