Chinese translation locale error
The current zh.po in cvs should be zh_CN.po
There's no Linux using zh locale but zh_TW( Chinese Traditional ), zh_CN ( Chinese Simplified ),
I'll send my updated zh_CN.po to the mail adress in the po file.

So, Truth, that you found an error makes you entilted to replace Joe ZhengxuZhao with Truth? How about Joe ZhengxuZhao's two years translation work in ZH? Just like that? disappeared and replaced by your uploading? What is going on?

We may have some misunderstanding here. So, I'll describe the issue in detail.

1st, zh.po was moved(renamed) to zh_CN.po. That is because there is simply no Linux & BSD using the locale zh, but zh_CN, zh_HK and zh_TW respectively. The fact means that if we keep it zh.po, Mainland Chinese Linux/BSD users would not benifit from the Chinese Simplified translation until we change it to zh_CN.po. For windows users, to change it or not is nothing different while it really makes a difference in other systems. So, the change is quite necessary.

2nd, This does not mean that zhaozhengxu's contribution is rejected but moved to be under the zh_CN.po file name. Please check out the po file in the cvs. I didn't steal. From the begining:
-----------------
1 # Simplied Chinese translations for CELESTIA package.
2 # Copyright (C) 2006 Chris Laurel
3 # This file is distributed under the same license as the CELESTIA package.
4 # Joe ZhaoZhengxu <zhaozhengxu@xxx>, 2006.
5 #
6 msgid ""
7 msgstr ""
8 "Project-Id-Version: CELESTIA-Chinese\n"
9 "Report-Msgid-Bugs-To: chris@xxx\n"
10 "POT-Creation-Date: 2007-03-21 22:26+0100\n"
11 "PO-Revision-Date: 2007-04-25 23:07+0800\n"
12 "Last-Translator: Thruth <gubotruth@xxx>\n"
13 "Language-Team: Chinese <zhaozhengxu@xxx>\n"
14 "MIME-Version: 1.0\n"
15 "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8\n"
16 "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n"
17 "Plural-Forms: nplurals=1; plural=0;\n"
-----------------------
You can see that What I did is updating a few entries based on zhaozhengxu's work and claiming myself as the "Last-Translator" which is automatically done by my poedit software. And I do consider what I did is appropriate.

In conclusion, nothing big but a renaming was taking place. We are all contributors who want to make things better. Take it easy, man.

btw.Just found a typo in the first line, should be "Chinese Simplified" .

Can you provide Cel: // URLs of the viewpoints?

Type Ctrl-C while celestia is showing each of the images
and type Ctrl-V into the Forum's "post reply" window for each of them.

Don't forget the Proxima is extremely dim.
It may just be that the viewpoint moves too far away when you change the viewpoint's location.

I think this is the same bug that was already reported many times on the forum : the stars halo is changing too abruptly at some distance.
"Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin", thought Alice; "but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!"

ok the problem was with the brightness setting - Proxima does not show up unless the "number of stars visible" setting is tweaked to a high value.

I don??t think if THIS bug was related before, but look at this:
http://img204.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... gl2gn1.jpg

It appears that there is a problem with PNG textures under Open GL 2.0.

Another bug with placing a model in the suface of a planet:
http://img204.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... bugdz8.jpg

Maybe it??s a driver bug?

Lighting bug

Post #129by danielj » 03.07.2007, 20:39

The dark side of planets and moons are TOO DARK,so in a script,we can??t see what is being displayed, sometimes.
One example:
http://img236.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... ingvb4.jpg
This happens even if you put the Ambient Light to Medium.Could be related to the dark sky under Open GL 2.0? :?

Daniel,

Chris is busy with things in 'real life' and right now has very little time for Celestia. You will just have to be patient.

I did not like the stars rendering in 1.5.0 pre2 and 3, the images are at
http://celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11528
I would like to wish Chris good luck with real life things and ask him - when he launches into the Celestia universe again - to look into it and improve the ugly way the stars are rendered these days.

I'm afraid there are lots of images around the forum which are even larger, therefore 640 x 472 are relatively modest. Each of them is about 30Kb. You may also try to look for the direct image url and download the pics in a new window.

Ivvi,

Some of our readers still use dialup lines and do not have high-speed access to the internet. Large image files cause them problems.

Please read the Sticky in the Users Forum titled "Start Here". It includes a link to a topic which describes how to display thumbnail images which preview and link to large pictures.

selden,

thanks for your instruction, I'll try to edit my post. I only add that I myself am on a dialup line and 30 Kb is quite OK, takes 5 secs to load on 56Kbit, would not take more than 30 secs to load on an ancient 14Kbit, and definitely would not 'hang' the page.

Ivvi,

For some reason I misread your post as saying 300KB, which is quite large :)

However, I noticed just now that the server with the images responds very, very slowly. That may be part of the problem. If the images are in your browser's cache, then it wouldn't download them again, so you might not notice the problem yourself.

I also used to get either a giant star glare like ElChristou's, or a square glare (with Chris' experimental patch), but the more recent CVS commit seems to have mostly fixed this. I say "mostly", because one serious problem still remains: the sun disappears between about 0.05 ly to 1.0 ly. Toggle off planet orbits, and the sun (the whole shebang, not just the glare) disappears even earlier, at around 10 au. :( This is with all render paths, even Basic (on my Mac).
