Only half planets

Post #1by echasslau » 23.08.2007, 17:01

Hi.

My Celestia only shows planets in the upper part of the window. Stars in the background are visible everywhere:

If I scroll the planet to the top it appears totally. Can anybody help me?

My system:
Fedora Linux 7
ATI Radeo Mobility 9600 with fglrx 8.39.4
Celestia 1.4.1

Thanks, Andreas

Usually this points towards a buggy driver. ATI is well known for that! To find out, substitute the proprietary fglrx driver by the respective xorg driver called 'radeon'.
You may have to slightly reconfigure xorg.conf to work with the radeon driver.

The latter is slower than fglrx but usually far less buggy. Just use 'radeon' to confirm that your problem is your driver.

It's certainly not in the code.

I found out that with every display split the planets are complete visible. A split is not that what I want, but is better than half planets.
