NGC 1999 System
NGC 1999 System
With chris's help on models I was able to figure out the correct way to get transparencies to work...The only problem that remains is producing a volume like model instead of a flat one...Its been curved to a bowl shape which gives it that surrounding look...There is also the issue of the object disappearing at certain distances...It is very noticable...The picture below is the farthest away I can place the camera before it disappears...Ill maybe work on it more later...I still have a few other planets to add so this should be done by Friday...
Let me know what you all think...

I'm trying to teach the cavemen how to play scrabble, its uphill work. The only word they know is Uhh and they dont know how to spell it!

Im going to tell you guys the one downfall of this is its not currently more than a flat semi curved representation of the reflection nebula...So if you were to fly above it it would appear as a flat billboard is all...Im still trying to firgure out a way to get it looking more 3D so bare with me I may not have this done today...

I have downloaded and installed NGC1999. I love it, but still have some problems.
1. In the first Picture obove, that you have posted, there I can see a galaxy like texture behind the nebulae. In my Celestia, it seems to be not rendered, but I have galaxy rendering turned on.
2. When I fly away from the nebulae, at about the distance of 1 lightyear, it disappears.
3. When I go to the star V380 Ori, I cannot select the planets by right clicking on the star.

The galaxy texture I took out as its not really needed...If you want you can add it in to galaxies.dat....

The others are being worked on by chris...
Select planets using the solar system menu or take out the star code located in the ssc file under the reflection nebula...It is labeled V380
