Server Down Times ???

I don't if anyone else is experiencing this but every few days, the server seems to be going down for at least 12 to 18. Then it just comes back up. This has happened three times in the last week. It?€™s not only through browsers but also through FTP clients.

Is this part of that problem that was mentioned back a few months ago with some computers in Asia slamming the server all at once? If it is I think this should be considered a DOS and Chris needs to take appropriate action. It may be starting out as a simple DOS but what comes next! I am sure allot of us remember three years ago when the server was taken down by some hacker. We certainly don't need that again. The result was the total loss of the Celestia Gallery and all of its contents. I still have threads throughout the forum that point to pictures that were hosted there. What a mess that turned out to be.

Just thought I would bring this to the Celestia public at large combined awareness.

I'm experiencing the same down times. I'm wondering what is happening again.

There was no DOS attack. There were too separate problems: yesterday, I lost power for a half a day. And prior to that, my DSL router hung when I was away and unable to power cycle it.

Prior to the power outage, the uptime of http://www.shatters.net was > 190 days!

I'd noticed the same late last night, but it's done this before so I just wait it out... resorting to watching video clips on YouTube. Were any of you aware of how many Celestia videos people have posted there?!?
