movie size in the capture tool

Hi to all,

first of all thanx for this wonderful programme...

This might be a newbee question but I have to try. Since I am not really good at scripting and surely not fast, I would like to know if there is an easy way to capture movies larger then the suggested 720 x 576.

Thanx for any help.

I was just looking at adding larger sizes. I believe that the HD standards are 1280x720 and 1920x1080--are either of those what you're looking for?

That would be cool. and maybe also 1024x768 so that there isn't a big jump in resolution from 720x576 -> 1280x720.

This would be cool. I wanted to use Celestia to reate a Dreamscene for Vista, but the lower resolution was stopping me.

I hope you can add this soon.

Chris, I assume this will be limited by our specific hardware's video/display resolution?

ie. Will it be possible to capture either still or video at a resolution higher than that displayed on my machine. I'd like for example to create wallpapers for my screen at work on my home machine which has a lower resolution than that at work. This may also allow the creation of higher-res captures targetted at those users more well endowed (in the resolution department) than I am. :)

BTW: Is it possible (either now or in the future) to capture screenshots (stills) for dual-screen formats. eg. 2 1280x1024 screens side by side requires a 2560x1024 image.
As far as I can tell, Celestia cannot display across a dual screen config. (At least not for me)

PS. What I'd really like to be able to do when capturing a jpg, is to specify an arbitrary resolution which may be larger than the current screen resolution. Is this asking a bit much? 8)

Regards
CC

As anybody else already said - this would be very cool, esp. the 1920x1080.

Could you tell a rough time schedule for the new version?

The linux KDE version can capture larger video's now. A video of a model I did that was converted to avi for Windows Media Player with mplayer's mencoder. It has a screen size of 1280 x 892. The original format is in ogg / theora format.

I've had Celestia working properly across multiple screen, though I've never true to capture an image when it was in such a configuration.

It's a very reasonable request, but unfortunately I won't have time to work on it for a while. You should add it to the tracker on SourceForge (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_ ... tid=371302) so that it's not forgotten.

It does work on Linux, although you have to manualy extend the window to cover both screens.

On the other hand, doing a capture on a window bigger than the screen results in blackened out areas.

Just to through my 2 cents into all of this. The visual difference between 720 and 1080 is hardly noticable. Note I said visual. What makes the biggest difference is if it is interlaced or progressive scanned. I am assuming that the capture would be progressive since that is what the computer monitors and video cards are running. So if you need to pick which resolution to do first the 720 would be good enough IMO. Maybe this is not an issue as far as the programing side I don't know. On the standard definition side I vote for the 1024X768 size.

Is HD implemented? The info is needed to fix and issue on the Celestia's page @ Wikipedia... (I cannot see it in the change log...)

Well, any movie capture at all on OSX would be cool... :-)

I cannot find this in the change log; normal? HD is also available on Windows?

I'm just teasing you, this has been in the KDE movie capture from day one. I'm not aware of any changes to the Windows' one.

Two HD resolutions were added to the Windows version in 1.5.0pre4.
