Yeah. I already regret making that original joke... I, unfortunately, can't go back and edit it out.

Absolutely, bh!

This isn't anything major. What I wanted was a world surrounded by the remains of a recently tidally disrupted ruins. however, under the current prerelease of Celestia, the planet is instead surrounded by a mass of glowing lightning bugs! So, for the time being, it is a rather simple addon of a water world.

Fair enough John....but it was SO hard to resist.

OOPS...I'm usually OK with those tags... ORIGINAL POST EDITED...

fridger, feel free to edit your post to remove all last vestiges of your association with that word...

OK then, let's return to the subject of the thread...

When making some mod's recently to eburacum's OA Beanstalk ( http://celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php ... highlight= ), I made the mistake of consulting the local bylaws in the locality of it's base. Unfortunately, the building codes there require all high-rise constructions to have an alternative (non-powered) means of egress for use in emergency situations such as fire and earthquake.

It wasn't easy, but I believe I have risen (pun intended) to the challenge:

Aargh! That's brilliant... I'm reminded of the artwork to a rather fiendish text adventure called "Twin Kingdom Valley", except you've got an asteroid where Twin Kingdom Valley had a fire-breathing dragon.

Came up with this stuff after a relatively sleepless night. I'm short for time, so here are the links. All of these worlds orbit 55 Cancri.

An update to planet "e", based on the visual speculations of the late John Whatmough: http://www.flickr.com/photos/maastrichian/437588346/

Sunset on the same world, with the atmospheric declarations making a great effect: http://www.flickr.com/photos/maastrichian/437591263/

Finally, the planet Chinook, pure fiction, and based off of Barlowe's planet Darwin: http://www.flickr.com/photos/maastrichi ... otostream/

And that space elevator IS bloody brilliant!

The Earth is Fightspits blue marble, space station V and orion plane are from Frank Gregorio's 2001 ships, and the enterprise in space dock is from Bruckner's star trek universe.

I've just added some images to a major, and ongoing, update to a previous system of mine. My old Magni system, which can still be found at the Motherlode, is arguably the worst addon that I've done. The primary failing force behind it was the nebula, my first attempt, and a dismal failure.

Now, however, I am using, with permission, Jll's RCW 79 nebula addon, a 3d model which is well worth the download (it, too, can be found at the Motherlode). Also included is another system, Jhulaka, which was the first system colonized by the species inhabiting the primary system of Saaqmakaal. This is also a main push behind this update: gone are the other, extra planets in the Saaqmakaal system. Instead, I'll be adding other systems to this addon, systems which have played a role in the history of the Magni, the advanced aliens living in Saaqmakaal.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/maastrichian/438722513/ This is the main world, Naklemis, shrouded within its cloud cover. Eventually, I would like to have an artificial ring encircling the planet, perhaps connected to the surface by several space towers.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/maastrichian/438722849/ This is Naklemis, minus its cloud cover. I've redone the planetary texture on it, and added a substantial bump map to aid in the illusion of a highly developed surface. The circular object protruding from the continent is one of two such structures, and meant to be the anchor point for a space elevator that has yet to be added to this world.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/maastrichian/438723085/ In the write up on my site, there is some information provided about the planet, as it was, some 5 million years ago. Thus I made this texture of Naklemis as it was then. The cloud cover, which is the same as in the modern day version, has been left off. I DID make one mistake, and displayed the continets in far too great a degree of drift; that is, I moved them too much, probably far more than what would have been achieved by 5 million years worth of continetal drift.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/maastrichian/438722223/ This is Dharyiis, the first world colonized by the beings of Naklemis, and just over one light year from that world. It is just a "quick and dirty" Gaian world texture. As usual, the selling point for it is Jll's magnificent nebula in the background.

As always, leave comments on those pages if you would like, and thanks for viewing!

Who, me? If so... I've thought of it, but really, it doesn't seem *that* good. Though it would be nice to do something other than the occasional comment or review.... Hmm....

Good guess, Spaceman, but nope..... It is much more domestic, and tweaked a bit fro the original source.

A couple of new pictures, these two from the same system, being 18 Scorpii. In the ArcBuilder Universe setting, the primary world of Pangaia was once home to the Sivata, a species that learned to use the ArcWays shortly after discovering them, and which aided in the dispersal of Human populations to other ArcBuilder worlds around 10,000 years ago. Pangaia orbits the massive Jovian world of Gardanah, a world which is completely fictitious. Indeed, there may already be data out there which negates the possibility that such a world even exists. If so, I'll likely have to revisit and retool this add-on at some point in the future.

Please note that you can choose a number of different sizes to view this image at, and that you can also leave comments if you wish. Oh, and as always, if you have a Flickr account already, I'd love to have you as a contact!

Thanks!

Thanks! The add-on is not as expansive as what I had wanted, but I just don't have time to iron out the bugs and problems that my original intentions unearthed.
