NEWBIE Q. how to make add-ons work?

I have tried several different add-ons, none which have worked.
I put all the files where they belong and restarted Celestia, and I can't search for it because it doesn't show up. What am I doing wrong?

info:
I'm on a MAC OSX
I put SCC and DSC files in data
I've tried RELAY47 for startrek
I've tried M13 andromeda galaxy

Addons go in the /extras/ directory, not in the /data/ directory.

You might try reading the first section of http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celest ... intro.html
which explains how Addons are supposed to be assembled. The Addons that you're trying to install may be violating those guidelines.

Selden,

Thanks for this wonderful page, this is what I am looking for as a tutorial in doing add ons the correct way. If I need any help I will post here as best as I can. I love the Celestia program its worth alot more than other programs I have used in the past. Thanks.

Adam,

You are very welcome.

Be aware that the page is written from the point of view of a Windows user: I don't have a Mac. Some of the details are sure to be different :-(
