Well, not a real shot per se, but still a neat one:

Image

I made this by playing with the lens flare in Photoshop, and using a real sunrise image that I had taken from my backyard in December.

It's meant to be a sunrise in the Xi Ursae Majoris BaBb system. The AaAb pair are in the background. This was a "quick and dirty" manipulation, though, so distances, angular sizes, and such are not at all accurate. But I thought it looked neat enough to share... :)

Mostly for Jules, who I know is a fan of both Macs and glass buildings: this is the view upward from the spiral glass staircase in the Manhattan Apple store:

Thanks Chris :) Very nice picture indeed, by the way.

No, I'm waiting until the ones with LED backlit panels and better GPUs (I hope) are available.

I'm waiting for exactly the same. The GPU isn't powerfull enough for my taste.

bh,

beautiful! Nature at it's best. We also tend to have problems
entering our house, these days, since the garden and
entrance area seems to be "exploding" in blossoms of all
kinds.

Yes... the blossom's been most spectacular this year... that shot was taken in my garden a few weeks ago. Now it's all rain... oh well.

Here's a recent shot that I managed to capture. It was pure luck... I was aiming for the rainbow, and just happened to capture the lightning. A moment later, and my batteries dies....

Awesome picture John. I can't count how many times I've tried to get a picture of lightning and failed. :)

My wife took the spectacular shots (but then, her camera is light years beyond mine). Here's an example from a different storm, the other night:

Spectacular pictures John! :D You'll have to tell me how your wife captured that last one. Does she use a digital camera?

I myself have had some success... using very long exposures (several minutes) and slow speed film (Kodachrome 25). If I could just get my cheap scanner to capture my slides, I've got a few nice ones of NYC at night. :?

Last October I was visiting my sister in Wisconsin for her wedding. We drove around for a bit looking for a good place to get her wedding pictures taken at. When we stopped here, we knew it was perfect. I thought it was so pretty, I had to go back to her house to get my camera and then come back and take some pictures.

The bridge above the river used to be a railroad. Now it's a bike path. Here's a view down the path, through the woods. It's like a tunnel of trees almost:

Awesome shot's John (especially if there was no photoshop involved!)

I especially like "Conduit". Is this yours or your wife's...it looks like possibly little or no time exposure was used (was that car parked or moving??? )

Any chance of a getting a high-res version of this one?
(I'd love to use this as my desktop background)

I'm impressed by you and your wife's photography skills.

Yup, a digital Nikon D200, a DSLR semi-pro, set ss 5, with the aperture at 11. The really cool thing is, she did it in a point and shoot method.

Email her, and I'm sure she would be happy to send you something (warning, though, her hi-res versions tend to be 20 or more MB in size!). I'm sure that she could scale something down for you, though.

Her email should be present on the page that I linked too.

Couldn't find her email but signed up on that forum and PM'd her.

Hand-holding such a shot, John, lucky!... it's perfect! Kudo's! 8) I use nothing but Nikon as well.

Johaen, those are really nice shots too. Reminds me of northern NJ / PA / NY during the fall. :D
