Creating a new star

Post #1by Colin_hutcheson » 02.02.2007, 10:47

For a projetc I'm working on I am trying to fly form the outer solar system towards Earth withthe planets flying past. I'm thinking the best way is to create a new star and planetary system so I don't have to fiddle with the Solarsys.ssc. do I have to add the new star to the nearstars file or can I create a new file. i tried doing that but can't get Celestia to recognise it. Any suggestions?#

I would just use an already existing star in celestia and just place the planets around it. You wouldn't have to alter the solarsys.ssc file. Just copy and paste the planets into a new .ssc file and name it what you want.

The very first example in
http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celest ... intro.html
shows how to define a star with a planet around it.
