Earth texture render (not 56k friendly)

Post #1by TourqeGlare » 15.01.2007, 17:55

I went to the motherlode to grab some hi rez textures and bumps
to render, and came out with this as a test:

(LARGE PIC!)

Cool huh? :wink:
Ah well.

Fancy. I'd love to know the details of how you achieved that result.
AMD Athlon X2 4400+; 2GB OCZ Platinum RAM; 320GB SATA HDD; NVidia EVGA GeForce 7900GT KO, PCI-e, 512MB, ForceWare ver. 163.71; Razer Barracuda AC-1 7.1 Gaming Soundcard; Abit AN8 32X motherboard; 600 watt Kingwin Mach1 PSU; Windows XP Media Center SP2;

I cant remember exact measurements, but...

I made a perfect sphere primitive in Bryce and grabbed some
hi rez textures in the Celestia Motherlode.

I fiddled with some bump strength, and a separate sphere for clouds,
and then rendered it.

I did some post work in GIMP (which I found in the Motherlode,
thanks very very much to the person who put that link there)
with this script:

and this accompanying tutorial:

Then I sprinkled some powdered sugar in back ( :roll: :roll: :roll: ), and there you go. :)
