Atmosphere

Post #21by bidmaron » 13.12.2006, 01:31

Sorry for the late reply, but work has been busy, and I go to sea tomorrow for sea trials on one of my submarines. I won't be back for several days, so when you reply to this, don't worry if it takes me a while to get back.
As for your question, no I had not thought of converting atmospheres into graphical information (is that what your were asking?). In fact, while that would be an awesome feature, I have no expertise in graphics programming and (currently anyway) no interest in that aspect. If there is something else you meant, please tell me. As for the information itself, right now, I have in mind to produce html pages with the info so that you can use the link feature of Celestia to see the information.

Hi,

That is indeed what I meant, a way to convert AS atmosphere information into the right data for the Celestia atmosphere code.

Here's a related topic regarding that:
http://celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10491

I guess it shouldn't be too difficult to fill this in manually anyway, in all it's only secondary to what I'm really looking for (nice screenshots of moons orbiting their planets orbiting their suns).

HTML pages are much more interesting, definately for in-game purpose.

Thanks, a good luck at sea,
Tom

Atmosphere conversion

Post #23by bidmaron » 06.01.2007, 20:57

Well, if someone will do the research, I'd be happy to convert that to code, but I have other priorities than doing such research right now. I agree it would be nice, but... only so much time

I understand what you mean about the so much time issue. I thought I'd give that research a try myself, but I haven't managed to even make a start on it.

Anyway as said it's not too important. Maybe a plugin to make it possible to add/adjust atmospheres on planets while running Celestia itself, simply by filling in right variables of code, would be a good alternative - maybe this plugin already exists (haven't gotten around at checking available add-ons and plugins yet, even! Talk about time issues!)

Anyway, keep it up!
