... After installing it, i see the version number is still 1.4.2, though. Is this a small omission, or is it something wrong with the build?

Let me add that it does not behave as 1.4.2...
In fact, i get a number of very bad bugs... Like emissive models showing up as stars when viewed from a distance.

I hesitate to report these things in the official thread until the version number question is clarified...

the number was not changed yet, but it's 1.5.0 pre 2.

the bugs you see are already being discussed in other threads, more opinions would be good.

Thanks Neo, for the clarification. It is indeed 1.5pre2ish. I say "ish" because I'm not sure if there were any new commits to CVS since Chris built his 1.5pre2. I'm not sure how the naming conventions work, but if someone tweaks something in CVS after Chris built the 1.5pre2 (no matter how minor), are subsequent builds still called 1.5pre2?

Either way, I did change the number in my build to 1.5pre2 until I hear further clarifictions.
