Since MGS is still in orbit (assuming it wasn't destroyed of course), I'm not going to insert an end tag. Sure, the orbit data won't be correct (MRO showed this) but at least the fact that the artifact (MGS) is still in orbit is represented.
Current Setup:
Windows 7 64 bit. Celestia 1.6.0.
AMD Athlon Processor, 1.6 Ghz, 3 Gb RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

Ok, there is a misplaced "g" in your Beginning declaration, and the Epoch date somehow was left out:

I know I sound like an idiot (again) but what is an epoch anyway?

"Epoch" is jargon.

It means "the date and time at which the values are correct."

I have no idea about the SSC stuff you guys are doing here :P I am trying to do the very basics and pushing myself to learn when I have free time.

On the MGS stuff though... it's not talking to anyone and it's orbit is off. They think they're close to finding it. No idea why whatever happened, happened though. Best guess is a stuck solar wing that didn't track and cause loss of power. Thats the best educated guess though.

MRO can't see it where it should be.
Spirit and Opportunity can't talk to it.

either a) it's off orbit and out of power and now a floating museum peice for us to rediscover in 50 or so years... or b) it's a pile of junk/ash on the surface, for us to rediscover in 50 or so years :P

Either way, my grandkids grandkids should have something cool to study on their field trip to the red planet.
