When I mark the checkbox "Label Stars" at "View Options" no stars are labeled in my CVS061108 (WIN32) version.
I can't believe that nobody else had noticed that bug.

1.5.0CVS doesn't label stars
We all live under the same sky, but we do not have the same horizon. (K. Adenauer)
The horizon of some people is a circle with the radius zero - and they call it their point of view. (A. Einstein)

It's NOT a bug. It's a temporary feature, typical for CVS code. The labeling is attached ONLY to Chris' NEW star code that has to be activated for now with the key @=SHIFT+2, before labels may become visible.
The labelling does NOT support all rendering paths anymore, however.

I'm also seeing star labels blink in Basic and Multitexture mode. They appear, blinking, while Celestia is moving toward having the Sun centered, and are on continuously whle the viewpoint is looking at the Sun without moving. Then they blink while the viewpoint is moving to the Earth, and when the viewpoint reaches the Earth, the star labels disappear. The symptoms are the same whether or not HDR is enabled, although HDR being enabled doesn't change the appearence of anything in those two Render paths.
The star labels are visible and stable in any of the vertex program paths, but only if the HDR code is enabled. Otherwise they're invisible.
System:
1GB 3.4GHz P4-550, WinXP Pro SP2
128MB GF 6600GT, ForceWare v91.47
