I'm sure many of you have already seen this, but a story on Slashdot presents a new Swedish telescope in this story that can image the sun more accuratly than ever before. Although the site is currently suffering from the slashdot effect, you can see one of it's images here.
I hope this can inspire some beautiful new star textures for Celestia.
New source material for star textures?
Ok 4k for jpg is a bit much so Im making them 2k instead...anyhoo heres the m class star...since it has the best detail...I am wondering if in one of the next versions if the flare can be rendered behind the star instead of in front...This will bring out tons of detail...
I'm trying to teach the cavemen how to play scrabble, its uphill work. The only word they know is Uhh and they dont know how to spell it!

Wow, that was fast! Well done.
I agree about the flare. If we can obtain images like that from earth based telescopes, then our view within Celestia should be equaly clear.
WOW if any texture needs to use an animated gif, it this one
Imagine this in Celsetia, constantly swurling with activity.
